I love this new little 'Brandywine Crabapple' we planted last fall. It's very small right now but will grow into a large, lovely tree. I love the huge pink blossoms. They look pretty with the newly painted gazebo. 
My white iris are in bloom. I love these because they rebloom. The other iris in the garden are evidently waiting to bloom until these are through showing off.
Even hubby's patrol looks good when it's framed by blossoms.
Are you sick of seeing garden highlights yet? And I'm just getting started. Hubs helped me put out the concrete statuary yesterday. That stuff is so heavy. He has made me promise that I will not get any more concrete statues or pots. Because our temperatures get as low as -20 degrees here in winter we cannot keep them out, which means we have to put them away in the shed before it snows. Hubs says I can get all the iron I want, but no more heavy concrete. That, or I will have to hire a strong man to put them away. Oh Beau, what are you doing around December 1st? Soon I will be able to post some photos of the beds, but right now they are still not very photogenic. I will take some photos of the newly painted gazebo as well. I wanted to paint it white and hubby and a couple of the children said that I shouldn't, that it should stay natural. I knew I would love it white and I do. But then, I love everything painted white. I did get my vegetables planted. I planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, and corn. I would still like to plant a few potatoes and green beans. I can't wait for all the fresh produce. Nothing beats the taste of home grown.

June, your crabapple is just lovely, small though it may be right now. When I grew up we had 2 crabapple trees in the front yard and I always loved their pretty pink blossoms. There is not a childhood photo of any of us where those trees are not in the background, be they Easter photos, graduation or prom pictures. Those trees took us through our childhood!!
ReplyDeleteThe white iris photos are stunning. Oh my gosh, those flowers are just so gorgous, I am at a loss for words to tell you how lovely I find them. I think I will simply have to learn to make a garden and fill it with iris flowers, because seeing all these lovelies on the blogs makes me want some in my own yard. They must be delightful to wake up to each morning!!
And I had to chuckle over the heavy cement pots for the flowers. Over here too, most flowers are put into pots like that, as they must be taken in during the winter and then every spring brought back out agian. We still have many flowers in cement pots from my husband's mother, and every spring hubby huffs and puffs about how heavy those things are!!
I will be anxious to see pics of your vegies. Yum! My daughter recently got interested in planting vegies and is lovingly tending her little garden this spring. I hope she will harvest well, cuz I can taste those home grown vegies in a salad already!

Lilacs, peonies, iris, tulips, dafodils,just don't grow here in Fl. But we do have some other pretty flowers. So I will enjoy my visits with you for the rest.

Well, I must admit. Your flowers and blooms are sooooo pretty but nothing in my book can make a patrol vehicle look "pretty" especially when it's in my rear view mirror. Even the flashing lights do not do it justice. ;)
Go on now and get dressed. We're going shopping for some concrete planters. You'll be able to pick out ALL you want, whatever shape and SIZE you like. Then we will have a nice lunch. When we're through, I will help you find just the right strong handsome brute young man to help you with the planters year around...trust me on this one!

ReplyDeleteNo I'm not tired of seeing your beautiful gardens!!! Keep the pictures coming! Your flowers are so amazing-I love the red and white together. As for the cement statues I can relate! I love statuary in the gardens. I know they weigh a ton but they are so darn pretty! My poor husband has to lug the stuff around as I have a tendancy to want to re-arrange the gardens every so often:) I also think you made a great choice in painting the gazebo white. I think that yard structures always look so pristine painted white:)
