I'm not sure what there is about a picket fence
that makes me love them so.
They just say community to me.
It doesn't matter to me if they are freshly painted or
or chippy and leaning, they are just so charming.
My dream of having one for myself has not yet
come true, but I still dream.
the fence talking to my sweet friend Sarah.
Trying to solve the worlds problems
one conversation at a time.
I think a cottage looks so much more
inviting, so much friendlier
when surrounded by a picket fence.
I wanted a house with a white picket fence
and a yard full of children.
Did you ever say that?
When I drive through unfamiliar towns,
I like to take the side streets and see all
the old homes and cottages with their
little white fences surrounding them.
All of these pretty little pickets were photographed
when I went to Hailey yesterday to run some errands.
The lighting was poor this day, so I apologize
for the pictures being a little dark.
Hailey is a small town 30 miles from my small
town Idaho. It is so full of charm that it just
seems to wrap you in it's arms.
I love towns like this.
It is much bigger than where I live, but still small enough
that is has retained it's wonderful sense
of community well.
No malls or shopping centers here.
Just a lot of cute picket fences!
Thank you to Kathleen at Faded Charm for
hosting White Wednesday every week.
Hi June! White picket fences just say: "welcome home" to me! Nothing is more cottage than that!

June, I love all the pictures of the picket fences, they are beautifully photographed...made me feel like was taking that drive right along with you ;) I hope to one day have that white picket fence to go around both my house and a rose garden...for now I just have the white wood arbor and trellis at the gate entrance...it's a start :) When you get a chance, come visit me, I have an award for you. Besos, Rose
ReplyDeleteShabby or not, all of those white picket fences are just wonderful. Love them! p.s. thanks for the "hug" I'm finally starting to feel better :)
ReplyDeleteMy June, I too do love picket fences especially when I can build something else with them and recycle! I always wanted a house with a picket fence, no can't do with the coyote around! One of my favorite peek is your last photo, looks like a Christmas card: the pine tree to the left, the white picket, the red of the leaves and the birdhouse. Have a great rest of the week Ciao Rita
ReplyDeleteHi June
ReplyDeleteYour picket fence pictures are really quite beautiful. I agree there is something about a picket fence that just says quaint. I hope you and your family are well and I wish you a wonderful day!
Blessings
Rebecca
I always thought a picket fence was homey ... When we bought this house I put one up & the neighbors hated it, making sure we knew this. When we took it down & created garden terraces there, years later, I gave him the old fence wood to burn ... chuckle!
ReplyDeleteYou do such gorgeous pics, June.
Popover over for our TRIPLE GIVEAWAY, if you haven't. Have a lovely day ~ TTFN, Marydon
Hi June,
ReplyDeleteThat is a darling small town and the name is even cute too. I've always wanted a white picket fence myself too. Like always, I want to climb inside my laptop and live in your photos!
xo~Tracie
They all look so great. We would love to put one around our flower garden one day. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteSandy
Picket fences, old doorways and windows, barns -- all have an appeal to me. Love all the photos you shared. Looks like a lovely little town to visit. I miss those sights! Blessings to you this Wednesday and every day, :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteOh I love your white Wednesday post, I just love picket fences to you don't see them here in Arizona but it would be nice such a rustic country look just like out of the movies. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteHappy Veteran's Day
Blessings,
Heidi
Picket fences... its like every girls dream... the house with the picket fence.. but I love the ones that are much more chippy and especially in the falls with the lovely colors in the background...
ReplyDeleteGreat post..Great pics!

Hi, June,
ReplyDeleteI loved my stroll through Hailey today! I, too, find white picket fences so homey and charming. Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures with us. They all made me smile!! Have a wonderful day and terrific rest of the week, sweet friend! Vicki
Hi June!
ReplyDeleteBoy I missed you!...White picket fences say it all! My husband's and my first house had such a charming white picket fence...the house wasn't much, but when I saw the fence...I was sold!
My Best

Hailey looks like a wonderful community! Love all the picket fences especially the last one with the little red bird house proped on top :-) Yes, I always wanted the picket fence too ...it's the first thing my husband built when we moved into our home 20 years ago. One of my daughter's friend always says that when he walks up the path to our home he is sure he hears the Leave It to Beaver theme song :-) I love that!
ReplyDeleteLoove white picket fences! That red birdhouse on the last one is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteMonicax.
Hi June,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed your last two posts because I always have to rush over when I see you posted.
i love picket fences too and no suprise I always wanted a yard full of children and we would be just like the Waltons.Did you love that show too?We did have 4 boys and 3 girls just like them and there was a sawmill on our road-close enough!
We still have some garden chores to do but almost done. I still have those new bulbs to plant and the roses to cover. our weather has been good this week so hopefully by the weekend we will be done.
I love the English magazines too.I will have to look for that Christmas cd.
Take care,
Carolyn
Sweet June,
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat post!! I love white picket fences too! You are so creative friend....the pictures are wonderful!!
Blessings~Sharon
June, please don't apologise for your photographs. They are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have lots of white picket fences here in the U.K. They say U.S.A to me and 'Huckleberry Finn' !!!!
I love them ... so pretty and welcoming somehow. XXXX
I think your photos are perfect! All those picket fences are indeed so welcoming! They tell us: Happy people are living here. They feel secure and they want to share. Wouldn't you want to live with us and have your own white picket fence? Mmm I think I am considering...have a lovely white Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteWell I think everyone of your pic's look perfect and yes all I ever wanted to be was a Mommy and live in a house with a white picket fence and I did get my wish but my only wish that didn't come true was to live in a sweet little town with the perfect cottage homes like the one that you photographed but maybe someday and I will have lots of grandkids to play with in my picket fence!
ReplyDeleteHugs~Kelly
Love the Photos, a Picket Fence always Says "HOME"
ReplyDeleteLove the white picket fences!
ReplyDeleteTOT
On this special day when we honour our veterans and those serving presently, I wonder how many young lads(and lasses) saw the picket fences in their small town and knew they were finally home.
ReplyDeleteSusan
There is something so warm and inviting about a house with a picket fence. It's as though the house has been surrounded by beauty and invites you to come inside, and stay awhile.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
God Bless our veterans and our soldiers serving the USA
I love them, too. They make a house look so cozy & welcoming. I love all your pictures, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHi June, just stopped by this morning for a bit of inspiration and I have certainly found it (as always on your beautiful blog). I think white picket fences inspire me to live a wholesome life surrounded by beauty. AND they make me think of flowers and then I want to plant sunflowers and cosmos and all the happy flowers....you know what I mean!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy day, Angela.
That town does have a lot of white picket fences! And I so agree that there is just such character and charm to a well-worn white picket fence. Loved the pictures.
ReplyDeleteJane
what a gorgeous post June...i think white picket fences look so pretty too, no matter what condition they are in!!!
ReplyDeleteOh June, I just love this, and I love a white picket fence. Have I ever had one? no, just a piece of an old gate from one that sets in my sunroom. Such an iconic image of small town life.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debra
Hi June,
ReplyDeleteI am like you and have always dreamed of living in a house with a white picket fence. One day maybe!
I love all the white fences you have shown and what a lovely place, that must be to live there.
I hope that you are having a great week.
Hugs
Carolyn
Nothing sweeter than a white picket fence ...especially around a home we love. ~~ That town is WAY DELIGHTFUL...how fortunate you are to be able to drive over there and spend time and wander about and enjoy it all.~~ I am in fear that small towns are "going by the wayside" .....and the charm of them, if we are not careful. ~~
ReplyDeleteWe NEED to photograph them...as often as we are able. ~~
LOVE YOUR PIC'S.
Rose

June, there's a picket fence on my bucket list too. Someday... I love the tour...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Shelley
June,
ReplyDeleteI love the all the picket fences!!! Great post so charming as are you!!! Thank you for the great note it warmed my heart down to my toes:)
Hugs Kate
Both hubby and I have always wanted a white picket fence. Hasn't happened yet for us either. Our city used to be like that when it was a town, only 5 short years ago. No malls or shopping centers. At least we are in the older area with the history and Old Towne, near the 100+yr. old farms, and original H.S next to the original Big park with the old schoolhouse from the 1800's. Attending the Veteran's Day parade along the Old Towne Blvd. adorned with American flags on every street pole felt like the good old days.
ReplyDeleteSigh...me too on the picket fence dreams ;) These are such beautiful captures of them June! Thanks for always bringing such beauty into our lives with your beautiful words and photographs. I know that mine has been richly blessed because of it...
ReplyDeleteHi how are you doing sweet June?!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was one of those people who always wanted a cute house with a white picket fence too!
Still want one.... ahhh someday!
Hugs,
Sherri:)
~~June~~I have been popping in each Wednesday (at least)to visit your blog and have been enjoying "white Wednesday"...thank you for sharing all of the beautiful pictures. I love whites in the house too.
ReplyDeleteI too am a lover of white picket fences...so homey & lovely.
Thank you for your visits over on my blog...love hearing from you dear friend...XXOO Mary H.
Hi June,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by today! Ok...you totally have to fill me in on Robin's kitchen & house that I have pictured! Do you have more pics of it? Love her style!!
I am so in love w/ white picket fences too. I have always wanted one & love every single one that I see.
Thanks for the lovely pics!
Shellagh
Aww, I love them! Hailey sounds like my kind of place.
ReplyDeleteGreat images!
Anne
Who doesn't love a white picket fence? We had one when we first moved here, but after a few years it rotted and fell down. We decided to replace it with a wire fence which isn't as pretty to look at, but it doesthe job. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful fences with us today.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Kathleen
Hello dear June ~ You are so very good with a camera! And yes, I've always loved picket fences. I think they speak to me of security, safe haven, good, decent people and a happy family. They really add charm. BTW, on your last post I wanted to say I also love the old silver like you brought home. And I have to have my magazines. Love them - although some of them are outrageously expensive!
ReplyDeleteI always appreciate it so much when you stop by to visit me. Please come and read my tribute for Veterans Day.
See you later dear friend....
Cynthia K. (Beauty and Blessings)
Dear June,
ReplyDeleteLove fences and it's great that there's a lot in your country! Sadly we do not use them. here they have this stupid obsession with walls! ... so there's too many of them!! wish i could chance people's minds with your lovely photos!
Take care,
Rosa
Dear June,
ReplyDeletethis is such a great post... I also love white picket fences... but unfortunately in Germany we doesn't have so much! This is like I imagine a small and lovely town in USA.
Wonderful photos you made. Have a great day.
Many warm greetings from Germany
Bine
Dear June,
ReplyDeletewhat wonderful pictures! Love white fences too. Looks very inspiring, thank you for sharing them with us. Wish you a nice weekend !
Best greetings from Bavaria, Eve
i love your pictures! I miss my white picket fence from our old house.......thanks for the pics !
ReplyDeleteJune, I love white picket fences...there is just someting simple and charming about them.
ReplyDeleteDearest June, this fences really produce a warm welcome-aura! And I think they look more "cosy" if they are NOT fresh painted. (But I have an office-collegue with such a fence - she hates it because it makes lot of work to paint it every year... hmmm)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young i didn't know if I "wanted a house with a white picket fence and a yard full of children". I said: I want to be free, don't like to marry, I want no house - it only makes a lot of work - and I wasn't sure if I ever would like to become mother. I said: We'll see what life will bring to me... And what brought life? Now I am married, I have a wonderful 16 years old daughter, a house with a garden, I'm not really free but quite happy, but I don't have a picket fence... (Our fence was made by the blacksmith I told you a few days ago... ;-)) I think it's a good life and a good fence...
Thanks for your pretty WW-pictures and inspirations!!!
Hugs, Traude
Oh June, you are so right! Something about a white picket fence just lifts my heart whenever I see them. They just say "home, family, small town charm" to me. These photos are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello June.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I am a kindred spirit in this respect as well. As a child, my ideal life was a cottage home with a picket fence and lots of children and animals (cats, dogs, squirrels, birds lol) playing inside it...Morning Glories and roses spilling across the pickets.
I am a blessed soul to be able to tell you that my dreams came true beyond my wildest dreams. (Along with the wisdom that we cannot appreciate the sweet without the bitter.) That being said, a Picket fence still makes my heart beat a little faster and sparks memories and visions of contentment and charm. Thank you for the lovely post and the sweet images.
Warmly,
Tracey
I always dreamed of white picket fences surrounding a cottage garden and arbors overflowing with climbing roses. Couldn't afford it until the children grew up and college funds were paid for! Lucky for me, my husband made my dream come true. He's the brawn and I'm the brain. He has a never-ending honey-do list! Love all your picket fence pictures.
ReplyDeleteHi June,
ReplyDeleteI'm a white picket fence kinda gal too. My dream is to some day put up a picket fence around my petite cottage. (Sigh) A girl can dream. Your picket fence pictures are so pretty. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful evening.
Hugs and Kisses,
♥Ana
Hello dear June,
ReplyDeletei just love the photo's with the white fences, you sometimes do see them here but not as many as over there with you.It all looks so lovely, especially with all the beautiful warm autumn colors.
Hugs,Ingrid.
June your pictures a beautiful. I have always said I would love a quaint little house with a picket fence, there seems to be something so tranquil about a picket fence.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and saying hello, always so good to hear from you.
xx, Michelle
Dear June, your photos from the white wednesday, are so wonderful once again! I would also have with pleasure thus a white wood fence.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend,
lovely greetings, Yvonne
Having a white picket fence is my goal. I love them and long to have them traveling up both sides of my home. I want a charming arch over my sidewalk, too. I'm dreaming as my hubbs already has soooo many projects on his honey-do-list.
ReplyDeleteSomeday.
In the meantime, it has been enough to see the the pictures you've shared of what I carry inside my heart.
Someday, Rebecca, someday!
Just trust...
Love you JunieGirl...
Rebecca
Oh June, I so have to agree with you about picket fences. They evoke a sense of coziness, of HOME, of Welcome-one-and-all! I grew up across the street from a house that had a lovely white picket fence all around the front yard, and I so loved to look out our livingroom windows and see that fence. When I was home last in NJ, the house had been sold and the new owners had torn down the fence. I almost cried, thinking what a waste! The house is no longer so cozy looking, and some times I picture the house crying for its beloved white picket fence!! (I know, silly me for such thoughts!). Have a grand weekend, where ever it finds. hugs dear friend, Debby
ReplyDeleteHi June:
ReplyDeleteI too love white picket fences : )
A white fence, a warm kitchen and a lot of children : )
I grew up in Central California and in the small town there were very few fences. My Dad liked it open; friendly like : )
I am living in a modern apartment building with my oldest daughter right now; in about a year or so I will have my own little cottage/duplex and then I can hope I find one with a white picket fence : )
Have a lovely evening
hugs
carole
Hey there Junebug!! I am a picket fence lover. I always dreamed of having a small little cottage-check to have pretty little picketed fence all around. Next spring we will put in the fence to give our small place a sweet cozy feel. We'll chain link behind it to keep the dogs in but the picket is what we'll see clearly.
ReplyDeleteI meant to tell you, I saw a show on discovery a couple weeks back about angleman syndrome. Amazing. I found out quite a bit about the disorder and was fascinated by how many doctors miss rather than diagnose it.
Hugs
Tammy
I have always wanted a white picket fence...these are lovely my dear!Just not sure about painting them.
ReplyDeleteLovely post, lovely White Wednesday, Hugs, Janna
ReplyDeleteHi June,
ReplyDeleteAh, the charm of the white picket fence! I've just gotten caught up on browsing your blog and thought I'd say hello!
xo
Lori
Oh, how I love looking at your photos, June.....I too love a white picket fence but not too many here in So CA.....your fall foliage is still striking.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour and for visiting me on my blog.
I am a lover of picket fences too and like you don't have one of those charming things!! I am hoping to have just a teeny bit of picket when we fence in the large yard- most will be just a field fence which will hopefully be camouflaged with all the trees and vines that will grow on it but there is a tiny section where my detached sun room is that it would look just perfect. Of course a little arbor is in order there too!!
ReplyDeleteOh June wouldn't that just be the cherry on top if you could come stay in my lil ol guest room- not you staying in the room but us getting to meet!! Friend if you are ever down Colorado way- you will always be heartily welcome!!
We are off to the the big city to find furniture for my little booth- I am selling lots and need more to fill up my space! Oh I wish you could see it- I hung lace table cloths on the walls to hide the yucky rust paint- wow the merchandise just pops off those walls now!!
blessings
mary
Hailey looks like a wonderful little town. White picket fences exude cottage charm and these ones are so sweet in all their different shapes and sizes. Thank you June for your always lovely comment at mine - we were thinking alike in our cottage posts!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend. Jeanne x
Yep....there is just NOTHING like a white picket fence, is there? And, while it's always been my dream, I don't see it happening any time soon. We live in a little community with lots of restrictions on things like that... Darn. As far back as I can remember I dreamed of being a mommy. Alas, the Lord only gave me one, but what a wonderful gift she is! And, I got the cherry on top with my little grandson......the joy of my heart.
ReplyDeleteHugs sweet chickie!
Spencer
June,
ReplyDeletethank you for your sweet comment about my brooches! I am considering making more, if I manage to find some time!!;))
Hugs,
Monicax.
Hi dear June,
ReplyDeletesoooo sorry I'm sending you my comment on the WW so late, but I've been so busy with work, family and all. Love your white picket fence. I'd love so much to have one. Who knows, one day, if I'm lucky enough to find the house of my dreams- I' a little picky and fussy (and of my budget too) I'll have a fence just like yours.
have a blessed Sunday!
rita
Hello June.
ReplyDeletegood luck to the doctor ...
NÖFF NÖFF...HE CAN FLY AWAY...Hihi ,;o)
HUGS BELLA
I BET THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN, WALKING AROUND A CUTE LITTLE TOWN WITH ALL THOSE CHARMING WHITE FENCES! I LOVE WALKING THROUGH LITTLE TOWNS IN THE AUTUMN, WITH THE WONDERFUL, EARTHY SMELLS AND THE BEAUTIFUL FALLEN LEAVES BENEATH ONE'S FEET. FOR SOME REASON IT SEEMS SO COMFORTING AND FOR A LITTLE WHILE ONE CAN BELIEVE THAT ALL'S RIGHT WITH THE WORLD.
ReplyDeleteI JUST HAVE TO PUT THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON YOUR CUFF AND WILL BE MAILING IT NEXT WEEK. I AM SLOWER THAN USUAL THIS WEEK, SORRY. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I SEND IT.
HUGS, HUGS, AND MORE HUGS, JUDY
I love picket fences too...
ReplyDeleteI thought of you today...I found the perfect chippy with a teensy bit of rust~"Angel".
She is made of metal and can be a Christmas tree topper too.
My middle name is Angela and for years everyone called me Angel. I thought Angel was not a very grown up name...so in 5th grade I made everyone start calling me "Sheri"...my first name. Most of my family still calls me Angel or Angela.
Do you know..if I could take it back.....I would have stayed "Angel".....
You are the first blogger that I have EVER shared that story with :)
Anyway....my chippy Angel is for sale on my Etsy.....I hope she goes to a good home.
June I am so glad you stopped over to visit for Disney Sunday. I loved hearing from you thank you for your lovely Veterans' comments. I had to change the settings on my comments for blogger approval, I had someone leave some mean things on my blog unfortunately so now I have to approve them. I guess no one is safe on the internet. Thank you again though for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, have a wonderful Sunday,
Heidi
June I love white picket fences as well. I have always wanted to own a home with a porch surrounded by a white picket fence...maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteNew here but had to comment! I love these pictures!! I too am a fan of the picket fence:)
ReplyDeleteHi June
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I love the picture of you Maddie helping in the garden! You know I have a Maddie too, she is my youngest grandbaby only 4 months. They will be here for Thanksgiving - I am excited to have everyone here.
Blessings
Rebecca
June, what a lovely "White Wednesday" post. I absolutely adore white picket fences, yet have to ooh and aah over the fences in other yards:-).
ReplyDeletemade my Potager fence out of old corn crib siding......and love it...so these images are super! Work from home India
ReplyDeleteI am your 86th comment. Can you remember me? Beautiful white wednesday. I love white fences too, they remind me of my grandmother Allreds house, with her white pickit fence, in a little town called Ephriam Utah.
ReplyDeleteI would sure love to go shopping with you in that quaint little city. Then go back to your house and decorate your tree.
Hugs
