I had no idea what a year of my life would look like on a blog when I started. It was kind of fun putting this post together and looking back over the past few months.
This is the first picture that I posted on this blog. That was in February 2009. This is me about 51years ago. Geesh! I can't believe it when I put it that way.

January brought me a lot of frosty mornings and beautiful scenes in the garden. At this time I was thinking seriously of starting a garden blog and connecting with fellow gardeners all over the world.
And bunny hugs for Easter.
Tulip time!
Flowering trees scenting the garden.
And bringing us back the bees.
Winter is this gardener's time to put things in order in her house while the garden lays sleeping. Taking care of things that she has sorely neglected the other three seasons of the year while she tends to her garden.
It's the time when she spends a little money on grocery store roses to cheer her until the garden gives her blooms of her own again.
Waiting impatiently on the spring that didn't seem to want to come in 2009.
She was happy to see the snow give way to rain in early March.
Spring brought bare ground once again...

Buds everywhere!
A lawn to mow...

And the dogwood too.
Poppies are next to show their lovely heads...

June you are making me so homesick for spring! I was just thinking this morning while nursing my cold, ok Christmas is over- I want spring!! Back in NM I was cutting back my rose bushes and getting the beds ready for planting. Here in Colorado it doesn't start getting warm enough to start planting till late May!
ReplyDeleteWe never did decide on what to use to make our raised bed and am hoping we can at least start on this and have the bed ready before May. Do you have raised beds? This one will be as your going out the back door and would like something that would look pretty (I usually use railroad ties but don't think this will do here.)
Your pictures are just lovely friend!! Oh I do love those poppies! Are you supposed to plant the seed in the fall for these? Poppies never would grow for me in NM but I am hoping Colorado will be different!

Let's cheer for you June! Not only did you make a magnifient post, but I happen to know who the gardener is that made these photos possible! Your work has been so rewarding, but nevertheless you must have put a lot of energy in this. Thanks for that and thanks for sharing again.
ReplyDeleteYour grandchildren are all too cute, I bet they look after their grandmother!
Thanks for making my day start with joy and beauty!
Dear June,
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful journey through the seasons, in your beautiful garden. You make me rather envious as I find it quite difficult to grow roses in my garden .
I am looking forward to lots more photographs of your flowers and shrubs in your wonderful paradise of a garden in 2010. XXXX
Oh June your garden is such a delightful feast for the eyes at every time of the year! I'm especially in love with your foxgloves, do you know the name of that variety?
ReplyDeleteSending you warmest wishes from freezing and snowy Germany
Carola
June, what a gorgeous year in review...it was so nice to see your lovely garden again...i too love your foxglove...is that a true perennial variety? i never had luck with those...and the biennial ones never stay where i want them to be...
ReplyDeleteI am awed by this post!! It is wonderful beyond words, the photos to accompany every month thru the year, the little comments below each. Fantastic, dear June! You should have been a daily columnist in a newspaper, touching people's lives with your thoughts and your words every day! hugs from here, Debby
ReplyDeletep.s. today is the one year anniversary of me starting my blog, I guess I best get busy and get a post in, it some how snuck up on me! :-)

How fun, to go through the year with you this morning. It really helps me see that spring will come. I only like the snow and cold for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love that star you covered and those candles. I must have 10 of those white candles just waiting to be decked out.
You make your gardens look so simple. He He He!

Dear June you have set my heart aflutter for the pictures of the roses and the gardens have brought serenity to a snowy day here in the Northeast...
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a passage;
"God gave us memories
so that we may have roses
in December."
J.M. Barrie
x Susan
What a wonderful way to start my day! A gorgeous post - perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour yard and gardens are outstanding. But I especially love the winter. My goodness, absolutely gorgeous! Nothing at all like So Cal. Where we are praying for rain and not allowed to water our gardens but only on specific days. So lots has died. Isn't it odd how we take something like water so much for granted? Until we are not allowed to use it.
totally, totally enjoyed your year. Happy 2010!!
Wow June--what a beautiful post. Your photos of your garden are truely amazing. I Have enjoyed visiting your blog and am so glad you found me--so I found you! May 2010 bring you much love and happiness.
