Spring, that is.
Then my Snowdrift crabapple will look like this.
The Centurion Crabapple and the President
Lincoln lilac, like this.
The house will be filled with lilacs, lilacs...
and more lilacs.
In the garden, buds will be bursting.
The Lily of the Valley will fill
the garden with it's scent.
The Bleeding Heart will be laden with blooms.
Poppies of every color.
In every hue that I can squeeze in.
I'm obsessed with poppies.
Speaking of obsessions.
The peonies will then take center stage
in the garden.
I admit that I can't have too many.
They are my favorite Spring blooms.
I use them in so many ways. They mix well
with everything else in the beds.
They are definitely my favorite cut flower.
It's hard to believe that it will be Spring soon
in this part of Idaho. We still have a significant
amount of snow on the ground, but it is
melting fast.
I can hardly wait to watch things emerge from the
once frozen ground and put on their green
foliage and then burst into bloom.
Ah, sweet Spring!
The flowers are so beautiful, I can hardly wait for Spring. We are getting a lot of rain today. I miss the sunshine and want some warmer days. Not hot! just warm....sandi
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful..I think lilacs will be my next thing I plant :)
ReplyDeleteDear June,
ReplyDeleteI can remember when I first found your blog.It was in May/June, when I started blogging and I loved your blog because of your garden.(not only because of your garden, June. I thought that you were lovely too !!) You were obviously showing your garden at that time of year more that your lovely things in your home and I fell in love with it.
I love my garden but, it faces North so, I can't grow a lot of flowers or, at least they are not prolific, so there is a teensy bit of envy when I look at all of your beautiful blooms.
I can't wait to see it in all it's glory.
Roll on Spring. XXXX
Lilacs and peonies - yes!!! I'll have them this year, thanks to the new deer fence, put up last summer by my heroic Great Dane. 1.5 acres fenced and ready for colour!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a deer problem down your way?
wow, you are making me wish i was ready for spring! i too love peonies and lilacs and most every plant you listed!

A friend has pink lilies of the valley, have you ever seen those? I wonder if I can mail you my peony bulbs?? they will never grow here...I am heartbroken, but think they would love life in your beautiful garden :) Besos, Rose
ReplyDeleteps..lilacs, lilacs how I love them too :)
Ok Girly...you are tempting us and that is making me jump up for JOY!
ReplyDeleteIt's so rainy and CRANKY here in Oklahoma. The fog is thick and the sky are gray. It's on days like this that I miss living in California.
I love those lilacs! LOVE LOVE LOVE them!
oxRebecca
OK Miss June-
ReplyDeleteI need details.
Do you replant these each year?
Are they all from bulbs?
Help!
It is gorgeous-
Laura
I love the poppies, June! I didn't know they came in so many colors!! And I am really looking for taller flowers! Lovely. And so are your peonies. They are such pretty cut flowers. Are you in Western Utah? That would explain an earlier spring...

Jane
Oh my goodness June your garden is a dream! I wish my garden were half as beautiful as yours! Thanks for a reminder of the spring beauties we'll enjoy in just a month or two...I hope:)
ReplyDeleteHi June,
ReplyDeleteLovd seeing your beautiful garden photos-I have to confess though that I spent some time a few nights ago looking at your garden pics from last year and totally enjoyed myself there. Your John Cabot rose amazes me as it had so many more blooms then mine.
We have had a milder winter and it does seem like we could get an early spring-I would love that too.
I still love that purplish poppy.
Carolyn
Hi june, your garden is so beautiful!! I'm dreaming of spring now....Kathy
ReplyDeleteHow could you not look forward to such a beautiful garden. You have really created an Eden. It gives me something to shoot for. I just love your flowers. Diane
ReplyDeleteOh June, I am so jealous that you are able to grow all those beautiful flowers in your garden. I can only dream of poppies, peonies, lilacs, lillies of the valley, and your flowering trees! They are all impossible to grow here in Central Florida, so I'll definitely be looking forward to your upcoming pics and postings. If only I could smell the lilacs!
ReplyDeleteBlessings always,
Susie
June, your garden is simply breathtaking! I am so envious of your gardening abilities as I have a black thumb! Wishing I could fill my house with lilacs! At least I can come to your blog and dream!! Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Polly
Thanks you so much for refreshing my memory. I forget the colors of spring. I sure do need them around me. I wish you could come and help me with my front garden. I finally figured out that the water I put on my front garden distroy's most plants. It's aparent. It's fine on the grass, but not flowers. So this year I will only water with house water.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Love ya

Hi June,
ReplyDeleteTo walk in your garden must be the most wonderful thing to do.
Love all your pretty flowers, but my favourite has to be the Lily of the valley. I tried growing that here, but was just too hot and only did well the first season.

ReplyDeleteYour garden is like heaven. Thanks for sharing. @nne
ReplyDeleteHello June, oooh, your garden is so beautiful! I am just so excited for Spring too... my garden is much smaller than the one we had at our little farm in the country, but I still fill every inch of space with beautiful plants and flowers too... and keep bringing home more! Lily of the Valley (Muguet) is my birthflower so I am really partial to those! And I am in dreamland when my lilacs are blooming... I do so hope we get to meet when you come to Salt Lake City to visit your daughter... I am only about 20 minutes away from there... we would have so much fun talking, shopping, eating! I feel like we are best friends already! Wishing you more happy thoughts of Spring... xoxo Julie Marie

Ah June, when I see this I would turn up the clock a little. I love Spring and the little birdies are definitely telling us that Spring is on it's way. You can hear them sing that! But it still is gray and raining here. Ok, Ok I am enjoying the little snowdrops in my garden, you are right June, Spring is coming and it's going fast now, we just have to look forward to it.

Hi June,
ReplyDeleteIt may be coming fast, but not fast enough for me! lol We have an additional 6 inches of snow overnight and it is heavy snow. UGH! I was just outside shoveling the walk and it is not light fluffy pretty snow. :)
However...your blooms are GORGEOUS so I will sit inside and think of spring!!

June,
ReplyDeleteI am so blessed by your lovely post. I do not have the opportunity to have my own garden, but when I see yours I feel as if I am sharing it with you. The blooms are so beautiful and give me hope of the lovely spring days ahead. Thank you for, once again, blessing me with beauty.
Blessings to you today.
In Grace,
Marie
June, do you not have the most beautiful garden? Yes, I do think so. No wonder you are dreaming of it...
ReplyDeleteHey June, I am just taking a wee break from my studies to visit you and what do my bleary, strained eyes behold..........Pure beauty. I mean really. Could God have done any better than these gorgeous blooms? Wow. I have been in floral design for many years and have worked with most of these flowers but have not seen them growing because I live in the desert of Southern California. Man they are so pretty before they are cut just hanging out in the garden.
ReplyDeletePeonies are also my favorite. We don't have em here but once I was doing a wedding for a bride from back east and when I suggested we use these "rare" and beautiful flowers she scoffed and called them WEEDS from back home!!!!!
Ha!
Thanks for the beautiful pictures. The lilacs and bleeding hearts are to die for. I guess I should come out your way some spring and soak all of it up! I love road trips!
Well back to the grind of study, Thanks for the garden tour, I won't be back to my blog till March!
Kim

I hear you and am with you all the way. It was just warm enough over the weekend to melt all our snow and I stood in the spot where I grow my sunflowers and said 'soon, yes, soon'!

Hi June, Your garden is so gorgeous! I can't wait to see more pictures of it through out the year. I am going to try Peonies this year. I have always loved them but never planted them. So this will be the year:) It is snowing right now but it is the perfect time to start planning and looking trough catalogs for new plants and ideas.

So beautiful, June! I may live in Florida now, but I well remember springs in Michigan. One house we lived in was surrounded by lilacs...all colors. Everytime someone had an event, they would ask if they could come and cut my lilacs! And we had so many, we were happy to share.
ReplyDeleteLilies of the valley are my favorite flower-I had them in my wedding bouquet! When we moved to Florida, my youngest son knew how much I loved them and dug up a bunch to surprise me with. So adorable of him, but of course they just don't like all this heat.
Your photos bring back so many happy memories! Enjoy them for me cause I don't usually go up in the spring.
All your flowers are gorgeous and makes me long for spring/summer. I love walking through your garden. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteSandy
So delighted to just discover your lovely blog June - we too have snow coming down today in the UK, so it's lovely to look at some pretty spring flower pictures :-) x
ReplyDeleteOh June...I've been so dreaming of the arrival of Spring and planting my garden. I've planted vegetables in the past and learned a lot...I learned that I only need to plant one zucchini plant not 6; I could have fed a village last year! lol
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm going to plant a cutting garden and I am in awe and inspired by your lovely garden, it truly is a feast for the eyes.
Big hugs to you sweet friend!
What a paradise you have created. It's GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Thank you for a wonderful reminder of the beauty to come! I love all those flowers - lilacs smell heavenly, peonies are an all-time favorite, and I think poppies in bloom are a feast for the eyes. I love flowers!
ReplyDeletei can't wait!!! I love your garden pics...........so so beatiful!
ReplyDeleteJune, words cannot describe the beauty of your gardens- that pale, pale pink lilac is my absolute favorite! Thank you for coloring my wintery world by sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh man, when spring hits, can I come for a walk in your garden.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE lilacs. LOVE THEM. Oh that wonderful smell.
We planted some last summer but it will be a few years before they probably bloom, and probably by then, we will have moved to British Columbia.
I love peonies, What a grand flower.
and poppies.
just alot of fun things you have growing
Gosh, June! Everything inside & outside that you have, is beyond description ... absolutely breathtaking, elegant & awesome.
ReplyDeleteI have to find a white bleeding heart, I only have the red. Your gardens are gorgeous ... far nicer than mine. Yours remind me of the old gardens that my Mother used to have, everywhere. TY for the memories & your sharing ....
Hugs, Marydon
June,
ReplyDeleteOf all the magazines & blogs I read, yours is my favorite garden of all! I mean that. I have always longed for a wonderful plot of land to plant on, so far it's not in the cards for me. So I will share yours! BTW, I named my daughter for Lily of the Valley, & Lilacs' are my second favorite. I grew up in Northern Ca where they were amazing, here in Texas they will not grow. We have crepe myrtles instead, guess what..they don't smell good. Lisa
June,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so beautiful! Peonies are my absolute favorite too! I only wish I had about a hundred of them & really wish they rebloomed!!
Shellagh
Wow! Gorgeous!! Those are some of my very favorite flowers and those blossoming trees are magical!!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
OH June you are such a tease! Your gardens are so beautiful, let spring begin!
ReplyDeleteHi again. I came back because I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and to check out more of your beautiful pictures. Oh my, your garden must be absolutely amazing in the spring and summer. You nailed it with what you said about finding people who like what you like. Ever since I started blogging, I just keep finding more and more blogs about what I like. It is like a huge magazine filled with only pictures that I like and filled with ideas on how to make my own home even better. I can't wait to see more of your home and gardens. Enjoy the chicks, we had some when we were growing up. I remember my mother would open up the kitchen window and yell "girls" and all her banti hens would come running from the barn for snacks. I wish my husband would let us have a few, but I can complain he lets me have all my other collections. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDelete
