Getting back to normal...

The bell...

The one used to summon my nursemaid (husband)
since Monday.
Lucky guy...I only rang it once.

I am finally out from under the anesthesia fog and making sense again, so I
thought it would be safe to post again.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes and the thoughts and the prayers.
You will never know how much it has meant to me.

My husband has been the perfect nurse.
I'm so grateful to him.
Speaking of nurses...
I think they are some of the most amazing people I've ever met.
I know that there are probably some that don't deserve the title of nurse,
but fortunately for me, I've always been blessed to get the good ones.
They are the real medical professional (in my opinion).
Because of Landon's condition, we have spent much of his life in and out
of doctors offices and hospitals. A lot of the time, the one's that got me through it were
the nurses. I have a great respect and love for them and their chosen profession.
I am close to tears right now just typing this, because of the experiences I've had with them.
They haven't even realized what they did for me and will never know the impact they had,
but they will go on giving their service and knowledge to others, without a thought
to the comfort they give.
Oh that doctors could be so wise and caring!

We've had food brought in by friends and neighbors,
and many, many offers of help.

The gift of living in a small town.
I never take it for granted.

I am not one to spend much time in bed and so this has gotten old fast.
I am feeling so much better than I did, and other than adding to the scars
already on my stomach, will be good as new very soon.
No more bikinis for me...LOL!

(the beautiful soldered ornament is from MJ Ornaments)

I have to show off a gift I received on Christmas Eve from Donna at Everyday Elegance.
Donna and I have been friends for quite awhile now and I love this girl.
I don't think I have ever known anyone who is as hard working as Donna is.
I swear, I get tired just reading her posts.
She is always on overdrive and runs circles around me.
When in her busy schedule did she have time to make me the most beautiful pillow
I've ever seen????
A short while ago, she made an amazing slipcover for her settee in her cottage.
Everything I love. Linen and ruffles!
If you get the chance to see it, you will fall in love with it.

I honestly couldn't believe this!

She embroidered the saying,
'and our days are spent...
Laughing With Angels'

When I told Donna that I would like to share it here on my blog,
she was hesitant, but after a bit of begging on my part, she gave in.
It is just to beautiful not to show off!

it's amazing to have this made by your own hard working hands.
Thank you so much sweet friend!

Thank you all so much for your concern for my recovery.
I am doing well and taking it very slow and easy.
I feel so blessed to know you and have you all in my life.

  30. June,
I am so glad to hear that the opperation went good and that you are recovering well. I guess that's what I have to look forward to?! Parts wearing out and having to get them removed. Oh, dear I don't like getting older. Your home is such a sanctuary. I think I could sit quietly in it for days. So much calm beauty...your photos of home always draw me in and have me longing to see more. That white kitty is precious. I am really enjoying my daughter's kitty Lily Monet. I've never ever had a cat before. Now I don't think I can live without one. Lily is such a love...she likes alot of attention. She has found a special spot in one of my wicker chairs in my bedroom. She likes to nap there. Now that my children are growing up, I am thankful for the companionship that my pets give. Well, I do hope you will stay in that cozy bed just as long as is needed to fully recover. Just bring stacks of magazines to keep you company. ((hug)) to you. ox`kerrie

So glad you are doing better. Was so good to hear your voice & know you were going to be well. We can match our scars now ... chuckle! You are right, no more bikini's!

    I didn't call you as I promised, I took a nasty fall when I fainted & I am just sore/bruised & ache everywhere. I'll call you in a couple days ...

  93. June..I was delighted to find your comment and I apologize for taking awhile to get back to you.
I'm glad you are feeling better and hope you continue to recuperate as you should.
What a small world this is. This is fun. We are Kelsey's from a long list of E. B. Kelsey's. There are no longer a lot of us, but I know there are plenty of Steve Kelsey's. When my husband moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas he was the fourth one in his church ward. It was funny. He was introduced several times as "Guess who this is."
Take good care. Stay warm. I think you are much colder than we are here and we are cold enough for one winter.
    Love..Rosalie

  94. Glad to have you back in the blogosphere! What a lovely room you have to recoup in! Looks like pure medicine of the sweetest kind!

My uncle started a bell collection for me when I was a child. I only have a handful now. I appreciated your posting picks of your lovely antique one.

Cheers to you for this coming year!

  95. Hi June,
I'm so glad you are feeling better. Surgery is no fun; I've been there.
I think we all need a beautiful bell like that on our nightstand :). My husband is a firefighter and is also a great nurse. If I'm sick or hurt, he's the one I want by my side. If I was in your small town (which one is it that you live in?), I would bring you some homemade Chicken Pot Pie. Are you resting with Jackson? He is very pretty, by the way! It is nice you have a white cat with a white sofa.
I just love, love that pillow you received. It almost made me tear up; it is so special with the embroidery. Just a gorgeous piece! I will have to visit your friend Donna.
    XOXO to you. I prescribe R & R and bloghopping :).

  96. Hi June,
What good news that all is going well. So happy you are on the road to recovery. It certainly is no fun being unwell and not able to do your normal everyday things. But then, if I had to be somewhere in my recovery, it would be a house as beautiful as yours. The pillow from your friend is exquisite. I love the embellished wording - that is so special.
    Much love,
Sharon :-) and Miss Gracie too

  102. Hi Sweetie
Hope you are doing well and you are back to almost normal :) I don't know that any of us are completely normal... at least on this end.
Oh my, I hope I get to see you at the Farm Chicks show... that would be so wonderful, I don't know what your schedule will be but maybe we could do lunch or dinner too or just hang out some.
I have problems of getting stuff there as I am not set up to do shows and really don't know if I want to be... just trying things on for size. So don't expect too much :)
Hope you have a wonderful Saturday
    Blessings
