A little bit of patching up to do...

I would like to start this post off with a thank you.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments I got on my last post.
I feel so grateful that I was able to write and have my feelings understood.
I wanted to also thank those who left sweet words for me that have no blog and no way for
me to get back to you for the beautiful messages you left for me.

I will also be taking a little blogging break after I post this,
but will be back to visit with you all soon.

You remember I had my gall bladder out in January?

Well one of the incisions (the one below my bust line)
didn't close, in fact got bigger and now is causing some problems for me.

(Like making me look like a 56 year old with child)

I will be having surgery the first of next week to have a mylar mesh patch put over the incision.

Yep...just like patching a flat on a bike tire!
OK, maybe not 'just like', but close.

The real bummer is that I can't do much of anything for 8 weeks.

8 WEEKS????
Are you kidding me!!!!

But you can bet I will be a good little girl this time.
(evidently wasn't as good as I should have been last time)
Thus the hole in my gut!

The rest of this week will be spent getting the garden ready for the gardener
to neglect it for the next 8 WEEKS!!!

Do you think I can do it?

I have a plan.

I am determined to wear white
(or something akin to it)

everyday for 8 Weeks!!!
(or something akin to it)

Do you think I sound a little upset?
I am just a little,
but I will make the best of it.

At least now I will have plenty of time to visit all my favorite blogs!

***

The garden smells so good right now.

And these are the reason why!

The first six pictures here are of the President Lincoln lilac that I love so much.

Smells like Heaven
and looks unlike any other lilac in the garden.

Isn't she a lovely little thing???
oops, 'he' (President Lincoln I mean)

This is the Sensation lilac.
Not very fragrant, but so unique.

(this picture is for you M)

Here is the Beauty of Moscow lilac.

I think when the crab apples bloom is my favorite time in the garden.
You can't go outside without being knocked over by the scent of them.
 Red Jade weeping crab apple

The next few pictures are of one of the Centurion crab apple trees.
This was about two weeks ago before the blooms opened.

Then a few days later.

Now fully opened and spreading their beauty everywhere!

I love this bloom!!!!

I have to come back soon to show you the lily of the valley and a few other things
 that are starting to bloom.
Maybe I can even get Dale to take some pictures of me in my all white attire
(so as not to do any dirt moving)
pretending to garden.

Of course I have a lot more photos of the lilacs on my garden blog Grace Gardens

Since that blog is where I journal the progress of the garden, that is where I will
be posting most of the photos of the progress in the garden.

Do you think I can make a gardener out of Dale day in the coming days?
I sure hope so!

and I will let you know how the slashing goes.

See you soon!

  10. Did you know that white attracts Angels? It's true. So your plan has more of a meaning than you first realized.
Now it is up to all of us..... your blog friends, to come together with interesting and entertaining postings for you to enjoy while 'being a good girl'.
While recovering you will think of many things to post and share when you are well, and maybe if well enough sneak in some of your beautiful pictures of the gardens. Be well and reach out to all of us when you need a warm hug.

    Bless.

I haven't had as much time to check out everyone's blogs lately and just read your last post(with tears in my eyes) this evening. I think there is a reason you were blessed with such a special boy and that is to help educate people who don't know any better. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us.

Hope all goes well with your surgery and I guess you're just goingto have to sit back and smell the roses this Summer....doesn't sound so bad to me:-)

You will just have to sit in the sunshine and drink in your beautiful garden. Try to think of it as a well-earned rest and enjoy it !!

  32. Oh, June I do feel bad because I know how badly you want to be in the gardens. BUT you really have to be careful and take care of your self. One good thing I learned about weeds, if they get bigger they are easier to pull. Wear your white and take lots of pictures of your blooms, cut lots of flowers to bring in to your home, read lots of blogs to make your time go faster. I hope your surgery and resting time are over in no time. Good luck and I will be thinking of you.

  42. Hi June,... wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery and that you are back to your gardening soon!... I can just picture you, all beautifully dressed in something white and romantic looking, out in your gorgeous gardens, perhaps with a vintage garden trug gathering roses... just like a scene out of Victoria magazine! Sometimes, I think someone is telling us we MUST relax and do what we need to, for our body and our soul... but like you, I know it is hard for me to not work in my gardens... I think Debra had a good idea, you can direct traffic in your garden while Dale cares for it! You are in my thoughts and prayers... xoxo Julie Marie

  43. Several years ago I broke my ankle (badly) about this time of year. I had to sit on my backporch & watch my garden go to pot (no one cares for it like I do). 87. 8 weeks??? I'm so sorry, June! I'll be thinking of you dressed in white though....be sure not to overdo during recovery!

We used to have lilacs of all kinds when I lived in Michigan. They were gorgeous.

Take care and if you can, keep us posted on how you are doing. Take advantage of this time to pamper yourself, relax and rest. Wishing you all the very best always...Sending you tons of hugs and kisses.

  90. June,
I'm having a giggle trying to imagine you as the Michelin Man! I hope the surgery goes well. I'll bet you put the time off to good use. Hanging with Landon, making something beautiful with laces & dried peonies. You'll get to browse the blogs to your hearts content. I will miss your beautiful posts so try to get well quickly.

  91. Your blog always reminds me of something from another era. Now you will be wearing all white linen and strolling through the gardens... with a lace fan... and a white lace umbrella, sipping iced mint teas...

Sorry, trying to make you feel better.

It really is crappy. A whole 8 weeks? I hate it! Not just for you, but for us! Those that look forward to your blog! Make sure you at least update us with a few lines of information on your recovery.

We will be waiting for your full health to return and looking at your old posts to keep us inspired.
    xoxo

  95. Dearest June, thankyou thankyou for the Lilacs!! Wonderfully uplifting...I think I can smell their fragrance from here!

Oh poor YOU.. what a dratted thing to happen to such a lovely person, I'm not surprised you might be feeling a little upset! Anyway I sincerely hope that by now you have the operation over and done with and you are back home looking suitably ladylike all in white like you mentioned, tho' I trust there's a trusty someone to launder those white's whenever and no ironing my girl! Cor that could be a blessing come to think of it!!
Speaking of blessings...I'm sending you plenty from over here dear friend. Get well very soon.
    Much love x Jane

  96. Hi Sweetie
I am home now and trying to catch up, it was so fun to talk to you but so disappointing I didn't get to meet you. I was so looking forward to it. I had to take the northern route home as I was headed to see mom and the girls in Mn. Otherwise I would have called and met you in Idaho.
I am keeping you in my thoughts these days as I know you are going through some hard times right now. Praying the surgery goes well and you are on a fast pace to your gardening... which is absolutely glorious btw.
I so love the lilac and apple blossoms
    Blessing you today

  98. Hello June! Well here I am just reading this and you probably have already had the surgery... I hope all went well and that you are embracing the white so as to heal quickly! Maybe sit among your flowers and RELAX and know that as much as you love working in them, it is also a blessing to just BE among them.
It is difficult I know to be given those kinds of orders from the Dr., so my prayer for you sweet June is that you heal well and quickly and that you can enjoy the process!
    Take care, t. xoxoox

It is always such a treat to visit your space - if only there was the capacity to send gorgeous fragrances through the computer screen!

Hoping that over the next two months you are able to delight in all of the little things that sometimes get missed when we are busy and that you heal soundly.

Best wishes from my home in Australia to your in the US...xxx Felicity
