Peonies everywhere!

The garden has been bringing it's bounty of blooms to us lately. It is such a pleasure to
walk out in it every morning and see what is new.
All gardeners know that you miss so much if you don't take every opportunity
walk around in the different light throughout the day. So many changes happen
over the course of a few days.

Even now as I write this the peonies are fading away.

Here are a few pictures I have taken while they were at their peak.

I know a few of you will have seen two or three of these pictures on my garden blog,
so forgive me for repeating myself.
But I just can't help myself.

I have one of those personalities that becomes easily addicted to things. I would maybe even
use the word 'rabid'. lol!
When I find something I love, I have to have more than one.
Yes, I am one of those who can never eat just one cookie, one soda,
one french fry,
or one potato chip. (and that's why they are seldom brought into the house)
(chips, I mean)
This is how I am with peonies!

They just give, and give, and give.

I even had to take some to the gazebo on a beautiful sunny day.

As I am sure you have all noticed by now, I love the pastel colors of these blooms and am attracted
to fabrics in the same hues.

They remind me of cotton candy.

I love huge bouquets of peonies because of the statement they make.

And this is not all.
I will be back to share more of my obsession soon.

June, I LOVE your peonies. Actually I'm not sure what I love more. These gorgeous flowers or the gorgeous pictures you take of them. I can't get enough of them, so just go ahead with your obsession :-)!

  6. Don't you find that people who love peonies also love hydrangea, and lilac, and well........ everything soft and lacey.
I have peaked back several times at the image of the huge bouquet in the blue pale. Maybe in the cold of winter you will refresh our memories with the image again.
    Enjoy the beauties.

  12. June, it was soooo good to hear from you!! I am still getting my feet wet back in blogland, but looking forward to the big dive, hoping to reconnect with many old friends, and find new friends. Your peonies are gorgous. Peonies will always remind me of my Grandmother, who loved them too and had big beautiful bushes of pink and white ones in your garden. I can smell their sweet scent still! And I remember how her and I would stand side by side during the summer and pick the june bugs from the bushes so they would not ruin the flowers. When her house was sold, the bushes were dug up and my sisters and cousin now all have some of grandma's peonies. I love that they are still in the family, keeping "MomMom"'s memory close. big hugs to you, debby

  13. I always pronounced them "pea-o-nees" so when a friend here said "pea-u-neez, I didn't know what she was talking about. I took a survey at school, only showing the word "peony" and asking individuals how they would pronounce the word. Most everyone pronounced it my way, with the long "o" which according to the dictionary, is wrong. :)

Your peonies are absolutely gorgeous! No wonder you love them so much. Have a fabulous rest of the week. Tammy

Will you be drying some of them ?
Hope that you are recovering well June and not over doing it.

  42. Oh June ~ your peonies are so beautiful!!! Ours are long gone so it is so nice of you to share yours with us. Everything seems to be prettier in your garden where the summers are cooler. We're in the midst of a nasty heat wave which is stiffling for everything that must live outside. Your pillows and fabrics are such perfect companions for your peonies. Wish I could see them all in person.

My humble plant produced only two flowers this year. As we rent I have been growing it in a pot but I think next summer I must plant it out. I can always dig it up if I move.
Hope you are now fully recovered and feeling great again.
