How I decked my halls

Well,
it took me awhile,
but I finally got the decorating done.

I love how the Christmas decor turns the house into a totally different place.

I have kept it very simple this year.

 Enjoying every minute of it.

That is after I dug it all out of the shed and brought it in and then piled
everything in the middle of the living room and stared at it
for three days waiting to be inspired.

And after sending Dale to the mountains to get some little
Douglas Fir trees to decorate with.

Yes, I know it is against the law in Idaho to just go dig trees in the forest,
but not if you have friends who own the land they are on.

The little Nativity that my daughter made me in the third grade.

My cheesy little garland of plastic bells hang in the gothic church
window frame. Sometimes I just love cheesy.

The next three pictures are of the mantle above the wood stove.

I used all of the vintage books in the house that had red covers and
my little wire trees and silver balls and garland.

Little feather wreath in the mudroom.

Some of the vignettes around the house.

The iron angel brought in from the garden to reside in the house until next Spring
wearing his annual Christmas necklace.

My paperwhite bulbs planted too late to bloom by Christmas, but pretty none the less.

 Now for my favorite thing.
And that would be the Christmas baking!

  1. I love the simplicity. It is beautiful but so calming. Sometimes the decor is so overboard it leaves me restless and wanting to leave. I think I could just snuggle down at your house and I'm sure I would be stuffed with your yummy baking. I think I need to get with it. Yes, furniture would be a good start for me. Suggestion, don't do house remodeling at this time of the year. Hugs to you today!

And lastly...the only thing better than Christmas baking is the tasting. (I can't believe I put that in print.) Happy times to you in your happy home!

  109. As ever June, visiting your home is a true treat and this time spying all the thoughtful touches with little spikes of humour and fun is a great gift.

It's easy to close my eyes and imagine the warmth and love imbued in everything that you do in your home and I'm sure that as soon as anyone alights your front doorstep they are transported to a special place indeed.

Here's to a fabulous Christmas season for you and all whom you hold most dear.

Biggest of happy hugs and fa la la la la - hooroo!

Your decorations are fabulous - how much work it must be that you stared three days at the boxes! All worth it, I am sure. I'd love to step right into those photos. And your handmade gifts are so beautiful - I'm sure all the recipients were just thrilled. Your handiwork is just beautiful. I'm hoping that you and your family are having a wonderful holiday season. Thank you for sharing your most gorgeous photos and life this past year.

    Warmly,

  141. Your home is always beautiful June, but this would have made all of the Christmas magazine publications! It looked gorgeous, I think it would have been hard to put it all away. That gothic window frame is amazing and looks perfect all cheesied up! Our decorations are still up, maybe tomorrow... today I have some orders to catch up on. Congrats on winning the giveaways in your latest post! I won a giveaway from Carola last year, it was marvelous, and I too have one of her beautiful soldered ornaments, mine is for spring :)
Have a beautiful 2012, full of love, laughter and the joy of family! (I just know the last one is easy for you to come by) t.xoxoxox
