You all know how I love my flowers dried just as much as fresh cut.
So I decided to go around my home this week and photograph some of
the dried arrangements I am living with this Winter.
Having these arrangements around helps keep my favorite season with me all year long.
I love gardening, so it's only natural that I would fill the house with everlastings from the past season.
Don't you just love these little vintage bowls I found in a little second hand shop?
Dried flowers have a way of brightening up the space like no other item of decor could.
The interesting thing about these bouquets of everlastings is that I can actually recall
when I picked them fresh.
This little bouquet is inside an old rusty chick feeder.
Here it is dried...
and below is when it was fresh from the garden.
I love shopping around for unique containers to put my bouquets in,
and this one was perfect.
The roses below are my favorite in the garden.
It's the Colette rose.
This is the same bouquet of Colette roses when they were cut fresh this Summer.
My second favorite rose is Guy de Maupassant.
It a beautiful rose in the garden and in the house.
Below is a photo of it freshly cut.
A large bowl of hydrangeas in the kitchen today.
The photo below is when I first brought them in this Fall.
This bouquet below is looking a little tired and will probably be going in the trash soon,
but I have enjoyed it and it has moved all over the house.
It's in the bathroom in this photo.
Here is the pretty bouquet when it was fresh.
This arrangement below is one of the oldest I have in the house.
It's from three Summers ago and here it still sits.
A little dusty, a little faded, but I smile every time I see it.
Yes, I remember the very day I cut this bunch of flowers.
So while the winds blow and the snows come and cover the garden,
I can keep Summer with me here in my own little indoor garden.
It is already the middle of January and days are flying by.
It is hard to believe that in no time at all gardening will start in earnest.
I will be out there with my shears cutting new bouquets for
the house before I know it.
What beautiful photos you took. I love all that splash of color inside those pretty pitchers. It's all so cheerful and inviting. It makes me want to display some nice little floral arrangement in my bedroom, but my cat would just think they were kitty snacks for her eating enjoyment. Lol!

ReplyDeleteDearest June,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thought to preserve a fresh cut photo and post it now in mid winter as dried arrangements! They were gorgeous fresh and still give lots of pleasure and brighten any day. Have you ever tried to spray (dust) them with hair spray?
Enjoyed visiting before I go to bed...
Love to you,
Mariette

Hi June, How Beautiful the Dried Roses are, I keep thinking, as soon as Flowers would start to wilt, they use to be plucked from the Vase & thrown away, Now the Beauty is in the way they Dry...

Good morning JUne.
ReplyDeleteO how I love this series of photo's. OLd and new like life itself. I admire the way you always style your flowers and things to put them in. You are so creative.
I also always dry my roses and usually put them in bowls too.
Hugs from Riet
I love dried flowers too, but haven't really saved anything other then roses.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend's daughter seems to get a bouquet of roses at least once a month from her boyfriend....and they save them for me to dry and put them in the eaves (is that what it's called) of the inside of my greenhouse. I like it.
Makes me happy.
Amazing that you have the "befores" of those beautiful "afters". I love keeping dried bouquets too!
ReplyDeleteHello, dear June, With the lovely dried flowers you always have a little bit of spring and summer in your home. That's wonderful! Your vases and containers are very pretty and your pictures are awesome as always.

ReplyDeleteYour dried flowers are beautiful. I usually have a rose or two dried on my kitchen sink. I am enjoying our non white winter and I am hoping we have a nice Spring. Only a couple of months left, plenty of time to plan a new garden or two.

♥ to you my friend.
Sigh. So very lovely. I've been slowly letting my silk flower arrangements go to the Goodwill. I spent a lot on them because they were such wonderful quality... but fresh & dried are best. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you & yours, June.

So beautiful! Your arrangements are always gorgeous. Hugs Yvonne
ReplyDeleteWonderful and delicate light strokes of Summer around the house. I would like to paint them all! ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and gorgeous flowers. I`m so agree about dried flowers. I have some dried roses, and I love them.
ReplyDeleteHugs Bente
June-That is just gorgeous- each and every shot perfect. I am amazed at how beautifully most of them dry and keep so much color! It is a bit like summer-in-the-house, isn't it? xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI really love the colour and shades of these roses, I think that spectrum is my favourite. Pink'y red'y mauv'y ..with those gorgeous Hydrangea to shade as well. Your favourite roses are so luscious they are so blowsy and remind me of peonies. I long to have dresses all filmy and silky in these colours so I could sit on a chaise-long and dream!
ReplyDeleteHugs darling friend,
Jane x
I need to plant some roses! Your dried arrangements are so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, June.
We're getting snow!
You remind me so much of myself!!! I always have little cups and whimsical containers holding dried flowers!!! I agree they keep summer with us all year long, especially when we need it the most during the long cold winter months. Loved your photos!!
ReplyDeleteChris :o)
Makes me think, there is life even in death and God makes beauty from ashes. After a season of pain, God is restoring my soul. I find beauty in your blog. It is refreshng. Hope you'll drop by sometime and see me. Maybe you will find encouragement there also.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your winter garden with us...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAbby
The flowers are so beautiful when fresh cut but dried they have a different kind of beauty. Maybe there's some kind of lesson there for us. I'll have to think about that. Blessings, Diane
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE that you do this with the flowers... They're wonderful, and your photos are so beautiful and uplifting.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Sending huge hugs, I'm SO glad and very smiley. I just know we are birds of a feather. Life really is so very fast ..fast out there now, our children have a lot to manage.

Hope you are well x Jane
All the flowers are beautiful. Love the containers too. Very unique.
ReplyDeleteJune, I find your roses remarkable inside or out. I bought, at a thrift, yesterday an old vase (probably held a candle once) but it has a little cross on it and I can just see my summer flowers in it. It is cold here too and I am surely dreaming of digging in the warm dirt. hugs♥Olive
ReplyDeleteHi June,
ReplyDeleteOh how I love coming over here and seeing your beautiful photos.
The dried flowers are so lovely and the containers are so perfectly romantic and sweet.
You do have the knack girl that's for sure.

The flowers don't die, they just age beautifully.... like a woman.
ReplyDeleteI have hydrangea cut from my garden three years ago. They look so romantic sitting in silver mint julep cups.
June, I have been coming to visit for some time now...and love the visits. It is so nice to see I am not alone when it comes to longing for the garden! The dried bouquets are timeless, and their fragile beauty always reminds me to embrace and accept the changes that come with time, even in ourselves. N xo
ReplyDeleteI love dried flowers too! I am always getting them from people when they are ready to throw them out, especially roses, yours are so perfectly imperfect!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Oh have you been pouring over all the gardening catalogs coming in the mail lately! Spring will be here soon- I am almost ready to get my little seed starting area set up again!! do you have a new flower/plant you are wanting to grow this year? Am ordering my pink poppy seeds and I have a male friend that I met while his wife was one of our hospice patients. He grows prize pumpkins- I am going to have him order me some seeds and we are going to see who's pumpkin gets the biggest! The seeds are $8 a piece!!! I can only afford 2 so will pray they both come up!!
ReplyDeleteLove your dried garden June! I used a lot of my dried flowers in one of my Christmas trees. Many had to be thrown out afterwards as they don't like getting handled too much.

How wonderful to have reminders of summer in the middle of winter. You make it all seem so simple. You have the touch my dear.

ReplyDeleteHI June...we are covered in snow here for 6 days now, I did a post on our garden in snow!.. this is not typical for us here in the valley..but as it is so beautiful for a short time we will enjoy the lacey whiteness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the names of some of your roses! I am going to look them up and see if they are hardy to our zone. I am always looking for more to add to my tiny garden!.....hope yours will work for me as they are STUNNINGLY Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing & for the lovely soft pink images that will sustain me threw this cold grey day !
What beautiful dried flowers June, everything is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHope you're new year is going well.
Take care,
Martha
Hello, dear June! I chuckled through this post as I have so many vases of dried roses around the house. I just love them. But I'm not as clever as you to also have a photo of the bouquet when it was fresh. I find comparing them fascinating, seeing how the petals dry, some stems curl and others stay straight. I think they're incredibly beautiful, although D doesn't always understand why I don't throw them out sooner. :)

Hi June:) Not only have you inspired me to plant more than I can count Peonies in my garden (keep your fingers crossed for me) but you also have inspired me to dry flowers other than Roses. I have had so much fun doing it and now have them all over the barn. Thank you!!!Your photos are gorgeous!!!! It has been snowing all morning here but my home is like Summer:)

Happy New Year, June! Isn't it wonderful how your flowers keep their pretty colors, even while dried? I bet it smells like wonderful rosy potpourri in your home! I long to see more of you beautiful decor in your kitchen... hugs and blessings, Angela

Have a wonderful Sunday!

June,
ReplyDeleteI love dried flowers too. I have a huge rubber maid tub filled with my favorite dried hydraingias & I use them around the house all the time. They played a big part in my Christmas decor this year. There is something so romantic & lovely about flowers (or anything really) that time has touched. Do you press many? That is a favorite thing of mine to do. Especially Queen Annes Lace, ferns & wildflowers. There is always a piece of wax paper hanging out of my humongous old dictionary. I love to use them in my art.
LIsa
Hi June! You are the only person who could make those dried arrangements look so beautiful! How you get them to look so pretty I will never know. When I try to dry anything, it just looks dead. Ha! Hope you are having a warm and cozy day in your corner of the world. :) Best wishes and blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these magazine-worthy pictures....each and every one SO beautiful~
ReplyDeleteHi June,
ReplyDeleteI was commenting on Riets blog when I glanced up and saw your name above mine. I just had to hop over. My sweet mothers name was June. She was born in the month of June, which I'm guessing you probably were too. I love all of your gorgeous blooms, fresh and dried. Darn, how foolish I have been. I have been throwing my wilted blooms out for years. I should have been enjoying them dried. I too have a passion for gardening and am looking forward to getting to know you better. I am now following you. Guess what? I'm your neighbor here in Utah.
Hugs, Jann

Lovely, June! I especially like hydrangeas when dried and your roses are lovely dried too. Of course, it takes your eye to put them in the right containers and in the right places around the house. You are so talented!

ReplyDeleteHi sweet June!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a pleasure to stop by your MOST LOVELY blog! I can sit here just reading through your posts and looking at all the gorgeous images of your home & garden! I wish I was a better gardner...I will have to learn. We just moved into our first {fixer} house this past summer after YEARS of townhome living, so having a front and backyard is very NEW to us...along with maintaining and creating one.
Your blooms dried so perfectly! So beautiful and vibrant, even in their faded glory. :)
Hugs,

i so love seeing all of your gorgeous images today and i am envious of the fact that you can so easily dry your flowers! it is way too humid and damp here in tennessee to dry flowers in vases like you have. i think yours are spectacular before and after and your beautiful and artful photography make them even more so.
