I love 'things'.
Many, many 'things'.
Too many 'things',
my husband would say.
Many, many 'things'.
Too many 'things',
my husband would say.
I want to preface this by saying that my all time favorite things are not things at all,
but the people and animals and places in my life.
With that said,
I thought I would share just a few of my 'favorite things' in my home today.
It certainly is no secret that I like my flowers dried as much as fresh.
Some,
(meaning my husband :)
would say I like them too much.
They leave their pretty little petals everywhere and actually make quite a mess.
Another 'favorite thing' of mine are frames.
What you can't see in these photos are the stashes I keep
behind doors, dressers and in closets.
It's scary really.
Even I think I have too many
for my own good.
Oh, and then there are old books.
Again,
too many.
WAY to many!
Again,
too many.
WAY to many!
I am also crazy about the fabric of my bedroom curtains.
They have been up now for over five years and
every morning when I wake up I still smile when I see them hanging there.
I bought the fabric at the store my daughter used to have in Boise and it is a
Moda linen-cotton blend. I have forgotten the name, but I love, love, love it!
Especially with dried hydrangeas.
I could have cabinets and cupboards full of china.
My favorites are the floral patterns and chintz pieces.
Peonies just make me smile!
Fresh or dried.
One of my new 'favorite things' are the wreaths I made after Christmas.
Stacks of vintage floral china in the dining room is a 'favorite' for sure.
The canvas sitting on the table above is a photo of my drying roses in an
enamel bucket from the fall garden.

More leftovers from the garden.
Another 'favorite' around the house is the Gothic style church window frame
and the iron gate that sits inside it.
I found them years apart at different sales and I love how they
look together. The gate is from a set of three that I brought home
and I have used them all over the house.
At one point we used them around the wood stove to keep
Landon from getting too close to it and getting a bad burn,
so they have been useful as well as pretty.

Today my 'favorite thing' is the lavender sitting on the coffee table.
It's what was left over after taking enough from the stems for sachets I was making.
I took some of my similar white pots and vases and plopped it in.
I really don't like harvesting lavender because it kicks up my allergies,
so the other night, I had had enough of the sneezing and coughing and decided
to use it this way. It only bothers me when I handle it,
so this will do and it looks pretty.
Some very dusty hydrangeas in my 'favorite' blue bucket on my 'favorite'
wire outdoor table that is residing inside for the winter.
My magazine obsession looks like it's taking over the cupboard in the photo above---
yep
another 'favorite thing'!
Oh June, what a wonderful post, it takes my breath away!!! To see the flowers with your eyes is such a joy..........nobody can take pictures of them, like you do!! I looooooove it - thank you so much for all your inspiration and have a wonderful week,
ReplyDeletehugs Jade
Your favorite things are my favorites too! But your photos all seem to come from a different world. The bright light is amazing. What a lift! You've inspired me to keep more of my dried blooms.
ReplyDeleteHi June... oooh, your "favorite things" could easily live in my house too!... we both love the same "favorites", and like you, of course, people, animals and places are first "favorites"... your vintage china looks so pretty all stacked up, and your vintage linens and lace in the cupboard are just gorgeous!... love that yellow window frame too (I think it is a vintage window frame I see)?... I don't think one can have too many old books, (or magazines either!)... and your curtains are still so beautiful, they make me smile too... I LOVE lavender, but can only have it in my garden as my allergies won't handle it inside... but I do have my dried roses everywhere like you do, and yes, little petals end up all over, one day Tessy had one on the end of her nose!... loved seeing some of your "favorite things"... if you decide to part with any, you have my address!... love to you, xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteOh June,
ReplyDeleteI love all of your things ...... your beautiful dried flowers, the shabby, distressed furniture and the lovely fabrics and china.

Gorgeous June & some of the prettiest "things" ever ♥
ReplyDeleteI took your wonderful creative idea of stringing dried roses and made some garlands for Valentine's day from my Birthday roses ~ they are still draped over mirrors in my home and I love them.
Looking through your post and photos is such a joy ♥ Thank you for sharing all this beauty.
Hi June,
ReplyDeleteYour favorite things are my favorite things too. Your photos are so beautifully orchestrated that I could look at them forever. I could just see a book written and photographed by you as a best seller!
the way you dry the flowers is amazing and they bring everything to life.

June, your photos are absolutely stunning. I do dare say your favorites are my favorites. Do you do a special drying technique for your flowers? They are beautiful dried. Mine just look dead when they are dried. Your home is so beautiful, I always love seeing your photos.
ReplyDelete~Shanon
June, I love all of your things and the way you put everything together. It always looks like the pieces were meant to be with one another .... and only you knew that. You are a natural born stylist.
ReplyDeleteI started using a netty kettle for my allergies. Strange to use the first time, but the relief is incredible - it really works. It might help in garden/harvest season.
Hugs
Katherine

Beautiful pictures and beautiful favorite things! Seems our favorites are very similar. And I think our husbands are very similar too...Mimi ;)
ReplyDeleteOh June, you have way too many great favorites, but that gothic church window frame with the gate really spoke to me.....love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI can tell we share the same love for flowers, both fresh and dried, which is mostly what i have around my home this time of year. I buy fresh ones sometimes, but kinda feel guilty if I do it too often(you know how those husbands get, hahaha)

ReplyDeleteReading your blog posts and seeing your flowers fresh and dried is one of my favorite things. Ahhhh, how i love your architectural arch and iron gate. and... the frames are soooo wonderful, that one with all the curves is so cool and unusual. Do i see dried lily of the valley? How sweet is that... When i first found your blog and saw your dried flowers everywhere it was so great,... i didn't feel like such a weirdo for loving my dried up blooms that i had shedding everywhere...
ReplyDeleteCindy
I like your favorite things....and my hubby says I have way too many....but you know what....I like it!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful "favorite things". They make your home feel loved. Diane
ReplyDeleteOh June
ReplyDeleteYou know the saying "Happy wife - Happy life!" You know you and I have husbands that rib us about our "things" (Jeff calls it "stuff") but they just wouldn't have it any other way.
I am sure we would live very happily in each other's homes and gardens really with the same beauty which we surround ourselves with!
Everything looks so adorable to my eyes with the way you have arranged everything so beautifully.
Those dried peonies, roses, lavenders and hydrangeas make everything look like "home". I have no hydrangeas to pick this year - they all burned in the fires!
Love so much all of your china, shabby whites and iron work too.
I know how your heart is yearning for Spring dearest friend,
Sending my warm hugs and love,
Suzy

ReplyDeleteI'm sure that your extras stored behind doors and in closets looks a whole lot better than what I have stashed away. My family thinks there's way too much going on around here and while hubby doesn't mind so much, my oldest son would love to start tossing things right and left. Your photos are always so beautiful. Your home is lovely and all the dried flowers are just gorgeous. Why is it my roses just look dead when they are dried? Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

A beautiful post June - as always. One of my most favorite things is your blog. Your post is always worth the wait and always satisfying. Your house seems to be filled with so much light and love and it always comes through in your pictures and posts. You have been and still are, my favorite blog.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Such beautiful images.....have so enjoyed discovering your lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteSophia
Dear June,
ReplyDeleteComing here to enjoy all your things with you is a delight! I wish we were neighbors as I would be hanging out at your place getting styling and decor tips all the time. :) I love dried flowers, too, and yes, they are all over the house, crunching petals underfoot and dusty hydrangeas. Usually about this time of year I give in and toss a lot of them, knowing new blooms are coming soon.
I so love your church window – I have been looking for some for years but without luck. Maybe it's because I'll have to do some serious convincing of D to have one in the house. :)
And I'm with you on frames (stashed everywhere) and your special fabric curtains. I have a Ralph Lauren comforter that I never get tired of and looking at the beautiful fabric always makes me smile.
These infusions of beauty are so important! As always, thank you for bringing these to my day.
xo
Dear June,

Sweet June, please forgive me if I already commented on this gorgeous post...but you visited my blog today and, with all your followers, I always feel so flattered that you take the time to visit my humble little blog! It means the world to me:) Your home is what I aspire my home to be...doesn't take a lot of money, just a lot of love and I am SO in agreement with you that dried flowers far outdo fresh ones! My hubby knows this and he gets such a kick out of how my gorgeous bouquets keep on living:)
ReplyDeleteGuess what my friend? Your blog is one of my favorite things because it is filled with every favorite thing a girl could enjoy! But the heart behind the blog...I do believe it above all of all of our favorite things and we your reader friends do love you girl!
