Sunshine in a bucket!

It is Spring in my garden finally.
The only proof I have of it are the daffodils, violets and a few
grape hyacinths starting.
Some of the tree's buds are opening up and the buds on the lilacs
are swelling bigger by the day.

I have hundreds of daffodils starting to bloom, but the only variety blooming
right now is this one.
I have three or four different ones planted and I don't remember which
are which. I used to know the name of everything I had in the garden but
now I'm lucky to remember just the varieties of my roses.

I do keep garden journals and can look plants up if I need to, but seldom
do unless I want to order more of something.
Thank goodness that never happens, because the journals
are in crazy shape.

I keep those little plastic labels that come with the plants I buy
and so each year's journal is bulging

crazy gardener----crazy garden journals

This particular variety is very fragrant so I cut several and have
placed them all over the house.

After several days they start to dry in the vase.
I love how they take on a papery look like these below.

This bouquet in the reflection of my mirror is also drying and are softer in color
than when they are fresh.

They have almost completely dried although it's hard to tell in these photos.
They will hold this color for about a year.

It has been wonderful to get out in the garden this week.
I feel like I walked ten miles today pruning, watering and digging
and boy did it feel awesome!!!!

I'm so happy the weather is great and i can get out in the yard. So off I go with coffee in hand for the sun is arising!!!

  6. That's what I'll be doing today - weeding, planting and tidying things up in the beds. I was up before 6 to get the water on. After a winter of rain the beds are dry as powder and no amount of mulch helps.
The daffodils are so pretty with their tow-tones!

  8. Isn't it wonderful when those first carefree blooms open?! I think it's God's way of giving us a little time to clean up the gardens before everything explodes!

When I was a young mother I worked very hard on my garden, it was a great way to get outdoors with the children and I threw myself into it wholeheartedly. I had many gardening journals and an abundance of books. Not only did I know my varieties, I memorized the Latin names! Of course I'm much more laid back now and don't have a clue what I have growing! lol!

Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures! Happy Weekend!

    XO,

Do I put water in the vase at first and then let the water evaporate or do they not get water? I hope I get my bouquet soon, I would love to have these drying in the house :) Thanks for the inspiration! love, t.xoxo

So enjoy my gardening, you need to pop by the blog to see what we've done ... some fun ideas that really spruce things up a bit. Our dogwoods are all so full this year, the winter probably was conducive to the show they are giving. I joined bloglovin today so hopefully I can keep in touch better. Miss you, have a beautiful day ~

  76. Oh Dear June I know I'm late but I did finally get here to once again appreciate your first pickings for Spring - those daffodils in that old jug look so divine. Love them so much when they are papery dry!
I'm like you and save all of my plant tags filed in a container though so I can just go there to check the name of a rose or some other plant.
By now you must almost be picking some rose buds and blooms and I can see you in your element up to your ears in the most beautiful blooming plants finally being so overjoyed that this time of year has finally arrived.
Sending you many loving garden thoughts and much love as I am tending the needs of a dear friend with a brain tumor. Life is full of twists and turns that we can never predict at any given moment.
