I'm a lace kind of girl

Yes, I like lace!

oozy-goozy, frothy-frilly, drippy-dangly lace!

anything adorned with lace gets my attention

whether it's a doily, hankie, tablecloth, bedspread, curtain...
I think I've made my point

I LOVE LACE

piles of doilies from some shopping trips this summer

and paired with flowers fresh or dried makes it even better

I'm always adding to my collection and constantly on the look out for
beautiful pieces.
Summer fleas are  perfect places to find them and I've been taking in a few.

beautiful ballerina ornament made by Martha

a little tatted collar I bought from an Etsy site that I plan on wearing
over a simple white t-shirt.

a Jeanne d' Arc scarf

a pile of lace tablecloths and place mats I bought from my
favorite local shop Rebecca's

I'm a frilly girl through and through and I love my lace!!!

  2. Oh, yes, I understand - completely. I have a couple of Rubbermaid boxes in the attic FULL of lace, and when I was in Belgium in September I brought home spools of lace from the Liege flea market. For a while I made Christmas ornaments and lovely little cushion covers for my mother and sisters, but I haven't done anything with lace for a while. Perhaps it's time to just go up and open the boxes and appreciate the lace!

  27. Your love of lace extends into your garden - many of the flowers you prefer have the same scalloped soft look of lace.
I was just recently thinking of adding lace to a couple of tops. It was a look that I used to love make and see that it's back in trend again.

  28. oooooooh I love lace too! far more than I ever thought! Today I washed an antique piece and made a hole in it, could kick myself for that, but I sewed some on the hem of my fresh made linen drawstring pants (post coming) and wondered why every single pair of pants in the world are not edged with lace!?? Who doesn't like it? what an exquisite touch it makes, oh love swoon LOL. I have curtains in doorways, and linen tablecloth edged with crochet lace as my bedspread, another lace as shower curtain, they are everywhere in my home too and I cannot find them, I use alot in sewing, but these parts don't have much at all, must find some. Love your posts, and your Grace Gardens....thanks for that post too. blessings, lady

  53. Truth be told, I've never been much of a lace girl until about a year ago. It all started with a simple set of napkins edged with lace. For some reason, I was smitten and ever since I've been looking for more napkins and table runners. I still lean toward the more simple of designs but I have a feeling that may change also in the future.

I loved this post so much. You have given me so many good idea's one how to use items that I have found. Oh and the tablecloth turned bedspread is AMAZING!

  57. Yum, yum, YUMMMMM! Lace stirs such lovely memories...baskets of crochet cottons, the flash of silver hooks glistening in the sunlight, with yards of twirls and whirls descending onto the floor from said hooks...ready and waiting to be placed ever so gently along the edges of snow white linens.
You have captured the past quite splendidly in your present time June. Bliss indeed!

  60. A perfect addiction...
One can certainly understand how lace through the centuries was coveted by both women and men.
With all the jewelry and medals that were among Queen Victoria's possessions it was her exquisite Honiton lace bridal veil she wore draped across her face into the afterlife.
Both her delight of its beauty and the devotion to the man she married in it allowed it to accompany her for all eternity...
