Here it is...
beautiful September already!
beautiful September already!
The weather is doing what the weather always does in September here in my part of the country.
Cooling down.
I sleep all summer with the windows wide open, and just a sheet,
but in September I find myself pulling the comforter
up from the foot of the bed about half-way through the night.

September has a magic about it.
I think it has something to do with the light.
The light is glorious in the mornings and then again in the evenings.
The light is glorious in the mornings and then again in the evenings.
September brings routine.
Although I no longer have young children to wake and send off to school,
I still find that some semblance of routine returns after the lack of it that comes with summer.

I still find that some semblance of routine returns after the lack of it that comes with summer.
And like the farmer who has the large hay field behind my house
is gathering in his last crop of hay, I feel the need to gather
in those things that will insure our comfort through the cold months ahead.

I feel September inviting me to enjoy her magic.
Every single day of it.
I think I'll do just that!

I think I'll do just that!
Wishing all of you a beautiful September!
I have long felt that September is the real start of the year. Everything seems new and fresh, even though my work week hasn't changed a wit! I find myself thinking I must need new shoes, and perhaps a new bag.....any excuse!
ReplyDeleteDear June!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right and though I'm always a little sad when autumn comes I also love this time of year with this special light and the wonderful fruits to come.
I looooove your hortensias in white and your decoration is soooo dreamy.
Der June, I wish you a beautiful, sunny September!
With love,
Geli
Hi, June,
ReplyDeleteI always love to "visit" your beautiful home and gardens!! I am glad the weather is cooling off for you there where you live. I know your state and many of the western states have had wildfires. Cooler weather and rain will certainly help. I pray that you and your family and all those in the fire areas are safe. Enjoy your lovely September week, my friend. Love and hugs~ Vicki
Dear June,
ReplyDeleteWe are set for a glorious. sunny and warm day here today but, there is now a definite chill in the air in the morning and evening and there is that wonderful Autumnal smell outside. I'm not sure what it is.... perhaps a mixture of woodsmoke, mushrooms growing and the harvest being ready .... it has definitely arrived with September and is a beautiful time of year.
Your photographs are wonderful as always...... my friend has had many mophead hydrangeas but can't seem to keep them white .... any ideas ? She has googled it but can't really find any answers. I have an oakleaf hydrangea that stays white until the Autumn when it turns a lovely 'old' green colour but, I don't do anything to it. Do you need to grow a special variety ? Just thought that I'd ask, seeing your beautiful pure white blooms.
Happy September to you too dear June and enjoy these lovely warm, autumnal days. Much love. XXXX
I like your wonderful post, June!
ReplyDeleteSpring and summer are my favorite seasons, I am so happy we have some beautiful summer days now!
I embrace these days, the coming months will be cold enough.
Big hugs, Ingrid
Always such a visual treat to visit you June.
ReplyDeleteAnd a joyful September to you too.

Hello you have such a lovely blog - your words and pictures are so inspiring. I too love the way September seems to start a new phase of the year and am always moved to reinvent myself this time of the year-it's nice to see someone else feels the same.
ReplyDeleteThe light IS different these days, isn't it June? And it almost looks as if you're looking through a vintage window, a sort of distorted but lovely look...and again, your whites are champion! LOVE! Anita
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so pretty June, as are your words... our mornings and evenings are very much like yours, and I too love the way the light changes to a soft Autumny glow... love your painting in the gorgeous gilded frame, is it new?... I don't remember seeing it before... Happy September to you too!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteHi June, you gather the most beautiful and thoughtful items. I wish we could fling the windows open all summer. I do that most of the spring though. Enjoy September. love, Olive
ReplyDeleteHi dear June,
ReplyDeletewonderful pictures! I love September - the air, the light, they are a really magical. Specially the scents of the air is so lovely.
Wishing you a lot of great days in the garden, before the winter comes.
Hugs, Bine
There is a sense of "newness" in September and, as you say, the joy of getting ourselves and our homes ready for cooler days: flannel throws, wooly socks, and warm stews will be in my future. Your photos, as always, are beautiful.
ReplyDelete-Karen
Hello, I simply love the light infused images of your beautiful home. The images are inspirational and extraordinarily enriching. I would just love to visit this space one day if only to sharing the beauty of the nature which surrounds your home. One day you must post about how to achieve such a miracle of beautiful blooms all the year around. It must be so spiritually enriching, soothing and calming.
ReplyDeleteWishing YOU a beautiful September, too, June. I love Fall-it is my favorite season but I am kind of dragging my feet in letting go of summer this year. We had such an odd summer and I got caught up in a job that kept me inside for 6 weeks and I missed being outside during that time.
ReplyDeleteYour post is beautiful-fresh and yet nostalgic. I hope you have a wonderful week- xo Diana
It is so true that even with the kids grown and not in school, September is the mark of 'new'. I prefer the warmth of the summer, but September marks the start of comfort. The comfort of wool sweaters, blankets, and foods that I only enjoy in the cooler months.
ReplyDeleteThe sad part is thinking of putting the garden to bed.
I so love September for it is a month I tell myself to slow down and enjoy. I tend to spin like a top all summer and now I can reap my rewards of the garden work. Of course I am such a fall color lover. I think I again with Pondside, new shoes and bag. Oh wait I already did shopping on VaCa. Love your post little June!! From Big June!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning June
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage lace touches in your Fall decor today....so romantic....
We are starting to notice the changing colours in the Valley and the air is filled with smells of harvesting.
We have at least four Market Gardens in the Valley and we love the Fall colours & tastes of the corn, squash & pumpkins they offer for sale.
Have a wonderful day my friend!
Hugs,
Wanda
Oh such lovely pictures. I wish September here would bring cooler weather but alas, it is still hot, hot, hot! Your post was a lovely way for me to start my day.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a joy to visit your beautiful home, dear June. When I look at your pictures, I always have the feeling that I leaf through a magazine.
ReplyDeleteHave a magical and happy September!
Hugs to you,
Julia
Happy September to you June! The cool Autumn breezes have arrived in our corner of the land as well.
ReplyDeleteReading your post today was delightful...and accented with such luscious photographs! I must say, you do have the most splendid treasures!
Wishing you the joy and magic of Autumn dear heart...

everything has already been said ...so ...from me?

Dear June, I hope the entire month of September is lovely and cool for you. After the last couple of hot weeks we are having a little cooler temps also. Fall is approaching and I can't wait.

Sandy
Dear June,- a beautiful post- with wonderful views from your home, all looking serene, and so harmonic and lovely.

Happy september my dear, I hope it will bring happy memories of gathering and cozying up inside !!
Hugs,Dorthe
Beautiful pictures and beautiful description of September. I recognize a lot of it.
ReplyDeleteHappy September to you June!

September is my favorite month. I even planned our wedding for September but then had to move it to August do that my matron of honor could attend. I always wanted a September baby too. Never did. It brings beauty and I just like how it founds too. Your photos are gorgeous. Always loveliness found here.
ReplyDeleteLord, if I slept with the windows open I'd burn up. Too danged hot here. Plus I have asthma. I wish we had weather more like yours. Always enjoy your lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
What a beautiful post, June. The photos bring such peace and calm, and your talk of September makes me want to gather up blankets and such.
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year, too, especially getting back to that 'routine'.
Hope your area is doing well after those fires - wow, how scary.
Hugs to you, Susan
Such beautiful pictures you've taken to capture summer and I enjoyed your welcoming in of September. It has recently cooled down here in the last few days of heat, but actually our August was as cool as September usually is, so we started a month early. It was heavenly with more to come. I'm just not ready for the much cooler nights. I wish we could have the cool days of September and the warm nights of August :)
ReplyDeleteCindy
Here's wishing you a beautiful September as well!! Your photos are stunning!!
ReplyDeleteJane
Our month here is October. Mother nature seems to be playing a silly trick on us here. It's been cooler and wet all summer. This month is supposed to be hotter than normal and very dry. Bah! Love your hydrangeas in the shallow urn. I have a small shallow concrete bird bath that looks a lot like that. It makes me want to bring it in and style it with pretty flowers! Your vignettes are wonderful as usual!
ReplyDeleteDear June,
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by your blog so much! Here is another beautiful post that stops me in my tracks and suggests a different way of looking at September! I am so glad that you were safe from the fires! I have been to Idaho once and I was amazed at the beautiful scenery that surrounded us! I live in an apple orchard in Santa Cruz, California and I grow many english roses! I am just smitten with your garden and your pics of your home!! Thank you for sharing such beauty from your corner of the world!! Cheers, Colette
Your blog is a joy to read. I just seem to slow down when reading your sweet words and I so enjoy your pictures...they are glorious! I hope you have a wonderful September...its my favorite time of year!
ReplyDeleteMy dear June,

It's still pretty warm here in Utah, but getting a little cooler at night...I love that. Fall is my favorite time of year. I start thinking of warm blankets, pots of soup, candles, oh! all the yummy things that come with this beautiful season!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post June! I love the dish with the buttons in it:) I love September and color me weird but, I start getting butterflies about Christmas around this time:)
ReplyDeletesuch a sweet post ushering in september, june:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos from your beautiful home, dear June. Your words about September makes me love it too.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful month.
Big hug from me
Dear June. Beautiful September and I love the fall. It is just that we are in the middle of a heatwave and it is hot again. Not normal for this time of year but I am not complaining. Winter will come soon enough :))I wish you a wonderful September month my friend. hugs from Riet
ReplyDeleteSeptember is one of my favorite months. I enjoy just saying it! So many good things to anticipate in the fall....and the beauty! The fresh air in the morning and the evenings are such a treat even if it is still getting quite warm in the afternoons. Enjoy, friend!
ReplyDeleteHello my dear friend...
ReplyDeleteSo happy to talk to you after such a long time and as always your beautiful feminine touch post makeme happy, sweet soft and delicate words with beautiful pictures... September is a month who is calling you for a coming winter and after that a beautiful spray colours in spring... lovely
Farah@craft.a.world
I don't know June, it was 64 here earlier in the week and I am just not ready for the cold weather. I still have so much weeding to do. I am sure you can imagine how much of those dang plants I rip out each year because I never manage to catch them before they go to seed. At least now I don't worry about throwing out a plant when there are too many. I only give that plant to friends that really understand how invasive it can be. Oh well, I always learn from mistakes the best. I hope you are enjoying the cool weather and have a wonderful weekend. Alaina
ReplyDeleteGorgeous whites and pretty light. Fall is in the air. Your hydrangea are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSweet June I do agree: also for me september always has something magic... May be the fresh air, the light, it seems to me september is the true beginning of the new uear. I love it, its generosity.
ReplyDeleteAdore all your images darling!
Hugs
Silvia
Good morning dearest June! It means a lot to me that you came and left a comment. I am thinking of quitting my blog only because of a lack of interest on my readers/viewers and the amount of time blogging takes to prepare a decent post. But if people no longer want to visit, it makes it difficult to continue. But kind comments are so welcomed, as you know, and maybe even diminishing numbers shouldn't be a reason to stop. Any how, thank you so very much for taking the time to visit.
ReplyDeleteHOW I LOVE YOUR WORLD! Anita
Hello June,
ReplyDeleteIt was a long rainy summer here. I loved it even though it was soggy. I love summer, but I love fall too : )
There are so many wonderful ways to enjoy life no matter the season or situation.
Your images here and your post really show your love of life, beauty and peace. Gorgeous images! Oh my! You have such an eye for beauty!
Maybe it is the angle of the sun that causes the lovely quality of light we experience in fall.
Thank you for sharing beauty with us.
Hugs,
Terri
Hello June,
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful September over here. I too find September magical as well a the start of beautiful things to come. The weather changing, the light of day in its shortness, the spirit of wonderment in greater days to follow.
This was a beautiful September post, love the photos they tell a story of the beauty to come.
Xx

Oh June....your photos can tell a story in themselves. They're always so beautiful. I too, feel the tug and pull of the shorter, cooler days ahead - and welcome the time to pull on my jeans and boots and poncho and revel in the crisp sunshine above the golden leaves! :)

I am embracing the fact that we will be not running out of the house in flip flops but putting on foot covered shoes and warmer clothes..jackets.I do enjoy the colors of fall and the crisp air.But I could do without the bitter cold winter that will soon follow fall.

ReplyDeleteSeptember is a beautiful month. I love your pretty pictures. So gorgeous to scroll through and look at. Have a beautiful week.
Kris
Hello my beautiful friend! Oh, to sleep with the windows open and a sheet in the summer. I know that I did as a child with the hum of a fan going. I think you would hear me sizzle if I did that now here in Florida. But I do love September and the change of colors soon to be showing in all the surrounding states. It's my favorite time of the year that I miss here but look forward to this year as I get the old house ready. Thanks for your encouraging words. You always make me feel happy.

Gosh those photos are so beautiful. I love the white hydrangeas surrounded with white. I don't quite know how i feel about september. I always get a little sad when the days start getting shorter, but this september we've had the best weather we've had all summer, so it's been nice.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Wishing you a beautiful September my dear friend. Wish I could say it was starting to cool down here too...Still way too hot. Hope all is well with you.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
❤Ana
love this month, one of my favorites. and love your beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteJune, stepping into your
ReplyDeleteworld IS like having the
windows open at night ~
lovely and refreshing!
The thing I notice most
about September is the
shorter days. It is now
dark when I arise, and we
have to race the sunset
in order to get in Gracie's
walk before 7:30. Not
that long ago, we were
still walking at 8:45!
I hope you are enjoying
all the special things about
September that make your
beautiful heart sing.
Love to you,

I'm late getting here, but this beautiful post is so worth the wait! I always know there is a treat waiting here. September is so full of nuances. All good, I think. You have expressed it so well. It makes me feel so cozy!
ReplyDeleteHappy September June! I tell you, the days just fly by! Already it is is the middle of the month. Unbelievable! Still hot as heck here. Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite months! Things are cooling off here in northern Utah too. Needed a sweatshirt when I watered this morning. Your pictures are so pretty. Mimi
ReplyDeleteJune, although I am on the other side of the world, september brings something different too... a change in the light, a little more heat in the middle of the day and cala lillies popping up in the bushes. Lovely post; your home is just so serene and beautiful! Hope you are well!
ReplyDeletelaura xx
June, I don't know how you manage to do it, but you can take white and make it convey a mood, a feeling, a season, like no one else. Love your gorgeous photos, you've done September proud!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Your blog is amazing! :) I love all this pictures :) greetings from the cold Poland - only 10 degrees Celsius.
ReplyDeleteDearest June,
ReplyDeleteyou have managed to capture the magic of September with your photos! Beautiful, your bright / white autumn-interpretation! Here in Austria it has also become cool. (Actually, it's become rather COLD ... ugh!) Again, we close the bedroom windows at night now and I need a warm blanket in addition. And now it rains often. HOWEVER, and I'm glad I love the fall and its mood!
Warm hugs (warm like a blanket)
Traude
I love the quilt in the middle of the night thought. I love that too.
ReplyDeletehugs, cindy@stitches
Beautiful lace and white flowers! You take fab pictures.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lynnie
Dear June, I love the way the light falls in September it makes up for the nip we begin to feel especially first thing in the morning. The weather has been bizarre across the world this year. Here we are one minute sweltering and a few hours later considering putting some heat on, very strange even for the north of England.
ReplyDeleteHope you are all well my friend, wish I could call over for chat and a coffee.
Hugs,
Jane xx
September for me was doubly special - my first September of retirement and I know I will cherish the memory.
ReplyDeleteAnd, my first September of retirement so I learned how special the month of September is. My husband tells me that October will be lovely too.
June your photos have left me speechless...heaven on earth! x0
