You know how much I love dried roses!

Yes, I love dried roses almost as much as fresh roses,
but they are looking pretty dusty so I'm tossing them.
Before I did,
I took some photos and found some others in my files of the ones that have been around
here way too long.

on the shelf
on the mantle

on the old pine cupboard

I have loved this one for two years and boy is it hard to throw out.
on the coffee table

Another pot of oldies---Collette roses
a pretty reflection of a bunch of David Austen's Harlow Carr

a shelf above the tub

a platter full of favorites

I will miss these beauties, but not the dust that covering them.

  5. When I started reading your post I had to chuckle to myself. I thought I'm sure glad I don't live there right now with the way I've been feeling. Pretty tired and dried up. Oh my, June will toss me out, ha-ha!!

I'm loving all the photos of the dried roses. You have that knack, girlfriend! Bare root roses will be in the stores soon. I can feel a new rose for my yard coming on.

To a beautiful blossoming June, from one tired dried up June, Hugs Sista!!

  6. I know how you feel...it is hard to throw them away but Oh boy do mine get dusty! Mine never ever look as gorgeous as yours though. and Oh how in awe I am every time I get a glimpse of your white home. Those rose pillows on your sofa are soooo pretty. I am guessing you probably made them yourself. And your white coffee table is so so sweet. I wanted to say yummy because that is really how it makes me feel. Your home and how you decorate is my favorite in all of Blogland. It always always makes me feel content. xxo

  7. Dear June!
Like you I love roses for soooooo many years!
Now this is my second garden were I planted all varieties of roses!
I prefer old roses, David Austin roses and like you I love to try them and make wreaths.
In the last few years I had not much time and forgot my love for making something with the roses!
But thanks to you my dear June I remember all the joy and pleasure ...
Perhaps you know that we are searching now for years for a big place for a large garden and a new house.
I hope that we have luck this year and then I can plan my third and last garden in my life.
This will be my last garden and my best - and with hundreds of roses!
Thanks for your dreamy blog and all the luck looking at your beautiful arrangements!
I wish you a beautiful week!
    With love,
    Geli

I can hear the birds in the garden and can imagine my New Dawn Rose s outside the kitchen window...only 5 more months!

  15. Your dried flowers and roses are so beautiful. Think the climate here is just too damp to dry flowers successfully. Sad to throw them out but spring is just around the corner and you can begin again.

  17. Good morning, June.

I understand completely. They are all so beautiful, and your arrangement on your old pine cupboard is a heart breaker! But it won't be too long before you will be posting about your roses coming up in the garden.

I have a little dried delphinium hanging on my baker's rack, saved just to help me get through winter and dream of next summer's blooms. And perhaps, if the rose bush I planted last summer survives, I may have a couple of roses to enjoy too. :)

    Stay warm & happy,
    Lin

  18. Oh, I hear you, June. I threw some out this late Fall when I was getting my Christmas stuff out. They were so full of dust, too.
However, I must say that yours looked MUCH better than my own did. I think you have the drying thing down pat.

Have a blessed rest of the week. I love coming here and seeing the gentle beauty of your home. It soothes my soul. xoDiana

  31. The roses were beautiful in every spot you arranged them. I'm sure this summer your mission will be to cut just the right bunch, to bring the same prettiness inside once again.

I have bunches of dried Hydrangea in several spots, I can't even begin to recall how long I've had them. Time for new ones from my new garden this year.

  51. Hi June! I have said it before and I will say it again...you are so lucky to be able to dry roses like that! Here in TN we have a difficult time drying anything because of high humidity levels. I just love the way yours have dried and kept their gorgeous colors, even the leave still look green! Congrats on your feature in the "where women create" magazine! What a surprise and pleasure for me to see you and your gorgeous creative space. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful world with us.

  55. Hi June,
I am not sure when you visited me if you noticed that you are on my sidebar with blog friends that inspire.
I want to thank you, and I so feel honored that you would visit taking the time to congratulate me, I feel so blessed to have beautiful blogging friends that I follow in there footsteps :)

As for the beauty here, I am so looking forward to spring blooms and the summer filled with roses, and forget-me-nots...where I will fill my home of pale with aged colour.

I love, love, love you aged flowers living out the beauty and grace they offer. When Fifi and Mark was here on a shoot last year, I took and placed some white roses not so much in bloom but, ones with very little life left in them. I love the beauty in roses that have very little life left in them, and for some reason they hold a whole lot of life.
Your dried beautiful roses show such life surrounded in the beauty of your home and the soulfulness you add to the vignettes you create.
Dust or no dust you my friend inspire a special romance here, one to love.

Looking forward to the beauty you will create with what's next.

    Xoxo
    Beautiful February to you.

  60. So beautiful, June! I have plans to plant a few more roses this spring. I love the David Austen roses and I think I'll have to plant a Harlow Carr if I can find one. When I have to get rid of a plant I usually throw it on my compost pile. Then when it turns into compost I use it in a flower pot or use it somewhere in my garden. Somehow it's easier to say goodbye. It's always a sad day when we have to let something of such beauty go, isn't it?
It amazes me that something that grows in the dirt, once unfurled, draws all of my senses to it.
No wonder we try to preserve it's beauty for as long as possible.
