I'm a treasure hunter...

I can't think of too many things I'd rather be doing than hunting for treasures, those things that have had a previous life. I love looking in beautiful shops and flea markets and dark , dusty old antique shops. Some of my best finds have been at yard sales. I love taking some one's cast offs and redoing them so they fit my taste and style. I love that very few good pieces are finding their way to the landfills. My daughters and I used to redo pieces and then sell them at Memorial Day ' Spring Fest' , Fourth of July celebration and the Labor day flea market here in our valley. I'm opting out of doing it anymore because I'm tired. It was always such a push to get the furniture painted and things packed into the trailers. We never got to take part in the festivities. I'm sure I will see many pieces that will tempt me but I will just have to use restraint. I'm so blessed because all four of my daughters love to treasure hunt. It's a great time for all.

  1. Hello June, Thank you so much for your comment on my blog - goodness I'm sorry but I had to laugh when I read your story about the goat you had once upon a time... although I doubt very much that it was remotely funny at the time!!

June, your blog is simply beautiful - no, make that exquisite. Congratulations. I'm going to so enjoy reading your all your old posts and I look forward to reading your new ones. With warm wishes to you, Veronica xx

  2. Love your little finds, especially those old silverware pieces. Don't you just love thze exquisite styles from back then! And I love that lately I have been seeing a lot of bracelets made from the handles of such old pieces, what a great idea. June, how wonderful tht your daughters all share your love of flea markets. Don't you just love it when your children are grown and some where along the line they have crossed over from being just your child to also being your best friends!! I am not sure when it happens or how, but I am thoroughly enjoying it! Debby

  9. June, I'm right with you, Yard Sales are the best. I have gotten so many wonderful treasures, it just blows my mind. Sometimes I buy things to fix them up to resale, then I tempted to keep it myself.
