rose love

I've been wrapped up in blog hopping lately, trying to visit all of the beautiful creative spaces
of women all over the world who joined Karen Valentine's party.

I love the Where Blogger's Create event and look forward to seeing
where so many of you make your beautiful art.

I was going to link my garden blog to the party too, but it was all I could do to get the
studio in shape for photos.
It's always such a wreck in there.
But to me that's the fun of having a separate place to create...leaving the mess.

Before I had the studio space I would have to create in different areas of the house.
(mostly the kitchen table or kitchen island)
I would have to gather all my 'stuff' up at the end of the day
or at meal time and that was such a bother.
(that is---when I used to cook) : )

In my garden is where I really love to create though.

Where I love growing things like these roses in my photos.

I found this old blue kettle at a yard sale one sunny afternoon a few years ago.

We stopped at the home of an old gentleman who's mother had passed away,
and she had many treasures like this kettle.
When I went up to pay him for my things, he asked me what I was going to do
with the junk.

'Treasures' I said...'they are treasures'.

Now for some of the roses blooming right now in my garden.
Where I really love to create!

rose---
Morden Blush
and
Annabelle hydrangea

rose---
Guy de Maupassant

rose---
Lambert Closse

I really like the form of the Lambert Closse blossoms.

such a hardy and vigorous rose in my garden

 not to mention---the perfect pink!

rose---
Aunt Honey
with clematis

rose---
Adelaide Hoodless
a pretty cherry red and so far it's surviving in the shade.
It's getting scraggly though so
eventually I will have to move it, but that will have to be next year.

my new little Mary Rose

It's one of the many David Austin roses I bought this Spring.
I hope it makes it through our cold, cold Winters.

I love it and all the others I bought and planted this Spring.

For more of the things I love to grow in my 'creative space' you can visit
my garden blog Grace Gardens.

  3. The tea kettle is a perfect treasure and probably could tell some stories. The roses are brilliant. It is almost too hot here to garden but I vow to get up at 6am and valiantly pull weeds. Somebody has to do it. Xoxo, olive

  4. June- Your photos are just so very beautiful. Love that you told the old man those were treasures (not junk). Your roses are just gorgeous. I just planted my first rose bushes on this property this summer. Would you believe while we were on vacation the man that cut our lawn mowed them down? They were marked, too. I don't know how he missed them. I think I am able to save the two he hit-we'll see- xo Diana

  5. June your garden looks to be doing beautifully again this year. WE have had it so hot this year that everything seems to be struggling. I just planted 13 more lavender and they don't look too great already-
Have you had alot of hot this year up there?

I love David Austin roses and have 5 so far here - several of yours are new to me and I am going to have to put those beauties on my list!

Just love looking at your beautiful pictures!

Picked chokecherries and in process of cooking and straining for juice- still need to make the juice into jelly but that is another day!

  8. I so love seeing your roses, June.
I just started planting roses last summer, and added a lot more this year. Visiting other bloggers gardens has been so enjoyable for me this year, especially seeing everyone's roses.
Thank you for sharing your lovely flowers with the rest of us.
    It's sheer bliss.

  9. Ah, June, you've transported me! I have a version of that very kettle, and when I get home from this business trip I'm going to fill it with roses. More inspiration from your blog - I love it!

  10. Oh, June, you've made me smile. It's been a hard day for me and reading your post was a delight! I love pink and I can just smell the roses.

I wish I like to garden. I just can't bear the heat no matter the reward! My mama was master at gardening. I picked flowers all my life and in the spring, we dug up lillies and amaryllis to replant. They all died. Maybe they will resurface next year. I sure hope so since we hope the house will sell soon.

    Thanks for sharing.

  12. I was drawn to your post when I saw that lovely photo of the pink roses in the aqua pot--what is prettier than that?! My favorite colors together. Your gardens are gorgeous. I love all the pink. I would love to have an all pink and white garden. I have David Austin roses, Wildeve and Eden. Love them! Our winters here in Oregon are not to harsh and they are against the house so I am hoping for the best. They are my favorite roses ever--just love them. Enjoyed your post!

I also SOOO enjoyed this post, and all your beautiful and stunning roses,-the Morden Blush is so lovely, I wonder if we can get that here in Denmark--I will ask, as I need some more soft coloured roses like that.
And isen`t it great thet treasures for each and everyone are not the same,--- in that way there will alwayes be something for all of us!! Love the blue kettle with the bouquet inside.

  14. Dear June,
As always, your garden is stunning. I am always a little envious of your roses, as it's very difficult to grow them in my north facing back garden but, I do have a wonderful David Austin rose in the front of the house ( which is south facing) called St. Swithins. Also. I have some ramblers in the back garden that do quite well. I think one is similar to one that you have from your photos. Is that a pink rambler that I see ?
I adore that shabby blue kettle and, the lovely thing is that , although the man who sold it to you called it 'junk', it will go on being used in such a beautiful way...... I hope his wife is looking down and giving you the 'thumbs up' !!
After what seems like months of rain, we now have temperatures up in the 80's and I really hope that it holds out for The Olympics. It should be OK for the Opening Ceremony but looks like it will cool down by the weekend. You never know what you might get here in England. If it snowed tomorrow we wouldn't be suprised !!
Hope that you and your family are well June. I haven't posted as I'm getting to know my new computer and I'm waiting to get all of my photos etc. transferred from my old computer to this new one. Hopefully, I will be up and running soon.
Enjoy your beautiful garden June and think of poor roseless me when you are cutting those beautiful
    blooms !! Much love. XXXX

  27. Took a stroll in your garden already. You have so many plants in so many varieties. Your garden is like a dream. Love the many different coloured and shaped daylilies and of course the many roses!!!! I'm happy with one rose coming to bloom while in your garden there's a waterfall of roses looking all so very healthy and happy. Love the blue kettle, it really is a treasure. I love the combination of pale blue and pinks and reds. This was such an enjoyable post again June. Thank you so much for taking the time to create so much beauty and then create a post about it. It must indeed be a dream to have a place where you can leave the mess. I don't have that and often I just don't start a project because I have to start dinner sometime later and then there's the ironing and the kids have to come home from school and someone will come over and... well, by the time everything would be ready to start 'creating', I'd just have to start putting everything away again. And then again... sometimes... it's a mess anyway... ;-) But you're so right, it's so much fun to create in the garden. Do keep creating!
    Bye,
    Marian

As always, your place is one I love to come and visit.
Your garden is very beautiful... the old shabby blue kettle with the roses is perfection.
I had a Mary Rose, David Austin rose, which unfortunately did not make it.
Roses just don't do well here, with living near the sea and bad soil.
However I do have a photo on my blog up near the top on my side bar and it was such a gorgeous pink.

    Have a great week

Now that most of my house is white, the colors stand out better. Thanks for reminding me to put color into my life.

Hi June... just lovely, as always... and like everyone else, I am in love with your blue shabby kettle!... and your roses look just stunning in it!... it is so hot here, many of my flowers have just pooped out from the heat (me too!)... now I am looking forward to Autumn, but not winter!... much love, xoxo Julie Marie

  101. so, so, so pretty....I can almost smell them from here.
I love all the interesting names of the different roses. Now, wouldn't it be fun to BE, the "namer of roses"
And, I love the old tea kettle.
