A simple little Christmas

I'm back to show a little more of the decorating I did this year for Christmas.
I knew if I didn't put it on here tonight I wouldn't be able to share it before
Christmas was over, and who wants to look at the decorating after
Christmas has come and gone?

Daughter number three and her family will be here tomorrow to celebrate the holiday
with us and then go back home to Boise so the children will be in their own
home for Christmas morning.
I will be baking and cooking tomorrow for a Christmas dinner  here on Saturday.

Daughter number two and her family who lives in St. George, Utah will fly in
during the holiday break and my older son will come home then also and
I will be cooking another dinner for them  )

Daughter number four and her little girl live nearby and so she will get
two Christmas dinners along with Landon, Dale and I.

Yippee...we get to eat twice the pie!

So until Christmas is over, I will most likely be sleeping in my apron!

I think this will be the new normal for us during the holidays.

When children grow up and get families of their own they like to be in
their own homes at Christmas making their own traditions.

Not to mention the in-laws who want to have them when their turn comes.

Most of you know that I have six children and at first it was difficult for me
to see them move away from home. Through the years some have moved
many times in the course of schooling and jobs and so I feel blessed
just to get them home once in awhile.

After this weekend with the three year old, I will wonder why I even
 decorated the house at all...
and by the time the nine month old is done with it when
his turn comes during the Christmas break,
well...
too many pretty shiny things to just leave alone.

Here are a few more photos of what I did in the house this Christmas.

I finally got the tree decorated.
Why is it so hard to get a decent photo of a Christmas tree?
I tried to get a shot of the whole tree and didn't get one I liked so here are a few
close-ups of some of the ornaments used this year.

The tree won't last long with the wood heat and dry air,
but we will enjoy it while we can.
It smells so good!

It's a simple tree

with simple ornaments

a simple cranberry garland

and I simply love it!

Tonight
the candles are burning, the carols are playing
and I am reminded again how much I LOVE this season of JOY and how
grateful I am that a Child was born in Bethlehem.

Wishing you all a Blessed Christmas Day!

Hello sweet June, I have to catch up with your latest posts. We had so many power and internet outages and temporarily 14 dogs and cats to take care of. With the electricity being a bit more stable now and 3 puppies less, I can start again visiting blogs :-).
Your Christmas decorations are just gorgeous. They look fresh and festive at the same time. I love the sweet red and green accents. Your style is so adorable and the pictures are gorgeous as always.
Have wonderful Christmas celebrations with your family and a great time!
Big hugs to you,

Your home is always so lovely and just beautiful in its simpleness. I always find your blog such a peaceful place to visit. I love how you used all the little bells, especially on the bird statue - just darling. And your tree is lovely. I like simple trees too - nothing fussy for me. I got rid of my old artificial tree and most all the ornaments and bought a simple small one last season. I like it so much better. It looks like it came right out of the woods with just it's few ornaments on it. I haven't even taken any pictures of it yet, so I must get to that before it is time to put it away.
It's cold and windy here with just a touch of snow, but I bet you have lots.
I am probably going to stop blogging after the new year, but I will still be visiting around, and always at your place since you are my most favorite blog and blogger.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful time together celebrating the birth of our Lord and savior, and a very joyous new year.
Sending love - Cindy

Blessings to you and yours and may all your Christmases be bright.

Everything is so pretty again June. I do think it 'd be best to put some shiny, breakable things up high when the little ones come to visit. Unbelievable how fast kids grow up and start building lives of their own, isn't it? It will be so good to see them all during this christmas time, you'll be busy, but a fun busy I'm sure.
Love the cards on the tray and the little pixies in your tree.
Bye,
have a lovely christmastime with your family,

Good morning gorgeous one!

Well, what can I say but that I enjoy every photo you take of your home. I have YET to learn how to work with the APERATURE (spelling) so that I can get the most LIGHT out of my new Canon camera. I went to the extent of painting my studio all white last summer so that I could get this bright white effect but my shots still come out on the yellowish side.

I love the mint green with the red in the stockings against your mantle my dear. MAGIC IS HERE! And a merry Christmas to you dear June! Anita

Oh June so very glad you are able to spend time with your children even if it is in shifts! It will be just hubby and me this year. A blogging friend and her hubby may come depending on the weather but we decided to just have a quiet day celebrating JEsus. It will be an interesting year for sure, as we usually have an overflowing houseful of family but none are able to come and we have a wedding to go to in January so 2 trips are not an option.

Friend I do wish I could get my camera to take lovely photos like you do! Did I tell you hubby bought me a wonderful camera for my birthday but I cannot seem to get the hang of it all.

Merry Christmas dear friend- enjoy your time with precious family.

My favorite photo is of that lovely aqua flowered tin. So pretty! And your tree is simply beautiful -- simple is always best. I don't know how she manages to do it all -- along with all the food she made, too. Enjoy all your celebrations with loved ones. Hugs and blessings, Tammy

Dear June,
Your posts area always a double treat... lovely, lovely visuals plus an abundance of good thoughts and kind words! I do know what you mean about a "new normal". We still have Rosie at home but our older children are harder to see during the holidays. My philosophy has become one of "no pressure" i.e. being here for the ONE day (25th) is not a requirement (as long as they're here in spirit :) Thus...similar to you...we spread our celebration out over the months... celebrating anywhere from November to February! It gives us much more to look forward to and (again, like you) I don't mind sleeping in my apron either... in fact I rather enjoy it!
Sending love and good thoughts to you and yours for a happy and blessed Christmas.
Warmly,

Ok lets start with the "not being able to take a decent photo of our christmas trees". I feel you June. I can't do it either. I gave up years ago. I think it's because they are so GREEN. Look at me complaining about it looking healthy:) I just love how you decorate for Christmas with bits of red. It has me wanting to add more red myself. You are going to laugh but I just finished decorating the tree in the living room. One was done thank goodness. I am happy we were soo busy this season but one year I'd like to get it together sooner:) someday!

It is strange when kids grow up and things change... I don't quite know what to think of it all, but just try to embrace the little time i have with my adult children,... i can't even imagine having grandchildren at this point, even though i'm perfectly old enough to have some! Seems like i'm still raising my 22 and 25 year old children!

I try not to think about how Christmas will change in our house one day. It's such a magical time while their little. When we decorate the tree they like to bundle all their own special ornaments and have me tell them where they came from. I tell them they will be theirs one day when they move out. They all looked at me in horror and said 'we're never moving out'! I made them repeat it while I taped it! LOL

Hi, June,
I enjoy seeing your Christmas decorations after Christmas or any time of the year!! Everything is simply beautiful!! I, too, have learned to celebrate with my two sons and their family when the opportunity is present. I celebrated with my oldest son and his family before Christmas, and then my youngest son and his family after Christmas. My sister, niece and I had a wonderful Christmas day brunch at an old Victorian home restaurant in Austin. The food and "milk punch" was delicious!! I am wishing you and your family a very blessed and happy new year! love and hugs to you~Vicki
