corners in the bedroom

I thought today I would post a few photos of the corners in our bedroom.

It may look a little dreamy in some of these photos...
but let me tell you, it's not dreamy very often :)))

It is my little dumping ground for all things homeless.

The only reason it is cleaned up now is that my sister was just here
visiting and the same boxes of paperwork that were stacked in here last month when she visited
were finally sorted through and put away before she arrived on Friday.
I couldn't have her thinking I'm a pig, now could I???

For the life of me,
I can't figure out why this room has be the one I clutter up.

I don't have a home office and if I don't keep important tasks in front of me where I can
 fall over see them daily,
I find fun things to do instead of addressing them.

Okay---enough about my 'slob-ishness'

and back to 'dreamy'

as always---there has to be dried peonies

 and roses

a favorite necklace

on a favorite lampshade

of course-
more peonies

the little shawl is one my daughter got me at an estate sale
love it!

Oh,
as for the stack of boxes...
they are finally filed away and neatly stored.
Now------was that so hard???

  2. Photography is perfect, you show what you want to show us, even when the mess is just around. Your sister should come often, then the problem is over ;-).

The bedroom is beautiful and of course you have decorated the room with flowers!!

  5. Lovely and dreamy. I totally understand about the pile ups. For me it comes from having such a small house or could it be that I just have too much stuff. Trying so hard to pare down and keep only what I really need and love.
Your bedroom looks like a haven and wonderful place for a nice afternoon nap. Just beautiful - as expected.

  12. Nothing moves me to straighten up the catch-all corner like company coming does. I laugh every time at the simplicity of how quickly it gets sorted.

The bedroom looks very dreamy - and you likely sleep better without reminder notes beside you.

  13. I'd think I was in a dream if I was sleeping in that room, June! Lovely and feminine.
I am, at last, now at the age where I don't collect anymore. Too much crowding already, no need for more. Cant bear to part with what I have!
Hope you and yours have been well, and that your visit with your sister was wonderful. I love it when mine comes.
Hugs and sorry I don't visit more often.

I love all of your soft, romantic touches... and of course, must have roses and peonies... your shawl from your daughter is just gorgeous... do you wear it sometimes... or just display it?... I would wear it and daydream all day long in it... much love, xoxo Julie Marie

  16. It wouldn't matter if you still had those boxes stacked up in that room, June. Your guest room is just beautiful! I love the soft, ethereal look you've given it. I have those same floral pillows (and duvet). :) I didn't know that peonies would dry so beautifully! I'm going to remember that next spring. ♥

  21. Isn't it amazing that we need a visit and an overnight or more stay by friends or family to get us into those corners to tidy up?
I doubt very much your sister would even notice a stack of papers in there when everything just takes your eye - so much beauty and romance in there highlighted by those magnificent peonies and other soft roses. Your lacey shawl draped there just add to the romantic atmosphere.
Sending you much love dear friend,
    Suzy

  39. Thank you for inviting us into such a private space, June. I have never seen a round table like yours. Neat. I also like your lampshade. I have one that is too short for my lamp and the brass shows underneath. I will look for some crocheted lace to cover it. How did you attach it?

  40. Hi, June,

It is so ethereal and lovely! I have the same issue with my bedroom. I'm trying to stop the flow of stuff into it all the time. An office space would be wonderful.

The light in your house is so stunning. It makes ypur photos dreamy. I hope you post photos of your holiday home for inspiration.

Your not alone. Most people use their bedroom as a dumping ground.. because it's one that people don't need to be gathering in! :)

Your photos look so crisp, clean, and beautiful. ~ As always.

    LOVE-LOVE your lamp shade! ♥

  52. Clutter or not, this corner is heavenly! I adore your soft colors and dried flowers, June. What a restful place here. And I'm the same way about leaving 'to do' papers smack in my way to remind me to do them. My bureau is covered with such stacks. Alas...it does feel good to tidy up, doesn't it? And your corner cleans up wondrously!
