Summer-like in the house and very Autumn outside the door

I know it still looks like summer in my house, but that's only because
I haven't had any time to change things up this season.
There are no truer words in my world than,
'I'm so far behind I think I'm first'
So my goal this week is to get some new sofa pillows sewn up and
while I think I'm going to skip the whole Autumn decor this year,
I am going to put away the pastel colors and go for some richer
florals and warmer throws than the summer throw on the sofa
in the photo below.
I will be putting the dried peonies away and fill the urn with
hydrangeas instead.

It certainly is Fall-ish outside in the garden.
A pretty stark contrast to what is indoors.

I love, love, love how beautifully everything colored up this fall.

rose hips everywhere
under the birch tree

The Snowdift crab apple is covered in apples and the birds are going
to be very happy this winter.

This time of year is so fleeting and I have been enjoying every day
of this beautiful fall weather we have had here in Idaho.
My internet service was down for over a week and it was so strange
not being able to connect. Right after it was restored,
I went to spend a week with my mom, daughter and sister in Boise
and when I visit family I don't connect, so I really have been
out of the loop for a long, long time.
Being a blogger has become a big part of my life, because
when I go about my days I not only think about my non-blogging friends
and how they are doing, but I also
think and worry about all of my blogging friends.
It really does make the world very small indeed and widens our view
and opens our hearts to each other, and that is what friendship is.

hugs from me.....

  2. Your blogfriendship is also important to me, June. Great that internet reduces all distances and makes every corner of the world accessible.

You have the ability to say everything in beautiful words, maybe it sounds in English even more beautiful than in my own language :-). Wonderful pictures, both inside and outside!!

    Sending hugs, Ingrid

  3. I so look forward to posts from you so I was thrilled to see your name pop up on my sidebar today.

You have had a busy Fall so far. Glad you got to go visit family for a bit and sorry about your internet.

I have to ask you something-those are dried peonies? Do you dry them yourself? I did not realize you could dry them. They are just GORGEOUS!

Happy sewing. I hope to sew some panels for my dining room windows this afternoon.

I hope you have a wonderful week, June..and as always--a hug to your angel boy! xo Diana

  4. Dear June. Your garden is beautiful in this time of the year too. So many gorgeous colors. Here we also had a beautiful autumn, but now it`s starting to be cold. I`m not a big fan of wintertime, but so it is. I use the winter to think of the spring, lol.

    Big hug from here

  5. Your home always looks beautiful June, whether you change it for the seasons or not. I have some of my hydrangeas in an urn and today, our three year old grandson asked me why I had really dry, crispy flowers in an urn !!!!!
I, too, think of my blogging friends a lot and think of them as my ' real ' friends { which, I hope, they are } XXXX

  6. How sweets are your words, friendship is the golden thread that ties the heart of bloggers of all the world. We all have problems with the Internet connection from time to time but I feel the same, I think of my distant friends...
The pictures from your garden are pure delight and your homme is flooded by a wonderful light.
    Sending you my sweetest thoughts

I have tons of them drying in my garage right now, so pretty!... and your grapes look delish!... we had a small vineyard at our little farmhouse we had and I always looked forward to them... glad you are enjoying this blissful time... and I know what you mean about bloggers... I always wonder if my blogging friends are okay, what they have been doing, etc if I have not heard from them in a while... for these are real friendships too... so happy you got to spend time with your family as well... much love, xoxo Julie Marie

  9. June,
Your comment about blogging and opening our hearts to others really resonates with me. Your lovely home still reflecting spring and summer is so promising that spring and rebirth to the ground is external. Especially with winter approaching soon. Your home is soothing to the soul and I look forward to seeing your winter changes.

Thank you for your visit and comment. I agree with you about a bedtoom being a sanctuary and I say ... Goose down pillows stack them high up to the sky. There is nothing as comfortable as diving into a bed of comfort and down!

Be happy and well, sending xo's your way.

So happy you got away for a visit with your family and I am sure you made some great new memories.

  14. I think your home always looks just perfect...as in perfectly gorgeous. Just a splash of warm color here and there and you will have autumn! Your pictures outdoors are so pretty. It seems our leaves changed and then left in a blink of the eye.

I'm so glad you had a family visit...it's good for the soul. I think about people I blog with when it hits me I haven't heard from them for awhile, I worry like I would any other friend!

  21. Well, your home looks beautiful whether dressed for Summer or Fall, June! : ) You certainly have a beautiful Fall vista outside your door. I'd love to see the pillows you wind up making up to replace your pastel ones. I have been trying to stay away from pillows (making them and buying them) because I have way too many. I actually need to work on just making pillow covers.

  22. No matter what the colours or season, your rooms are always so welcoming and tranquil. I'm sure like every home there is noise and chaos, but it always looks like a quiet place to settle in with a cup of tea and a friendly chat.
When you share your life with all of us it is like having that friendly chat.

Have fun creating a new season look {it's therapeutic sewing isn't it?}.

  39. Oh June, you are never thought of to be out, but always in. I love the romance I feel with each visit, and as for fall outside and summer inside this is not what I see rather then the beauty of winters coming.... Crisp, white, and a calming of stillness. I love white year around, all is calm here June, and that's what I leave with when I head out.

Not sure you need to force any colour unless you truly feel the need to. I think just toning down the white with cream layering the whites, and added grain sacks of dustings of grey's, and muted tones of naturals, it will all soften the harder edges of white, yet letting you still stand out, the you we love so.

Stay as you are, with a heart of gold.

Love your stand for blogging friendships, I so get this, I often not just saying this because I'm here, but I will think of you and you T-1-11 wall, lol
Yes, and the beauty you inspire.

    See you soon blog friend.
Thinking of you, and every bit of your white home is welcomed this fall through winter.

  56. I laughed about the so far behind you think you are first comment.

I feel like I got behind on my blogging in July when we were on vacation and then I became ill. I don't know if I will ever catch up.

I really love dried hydrangeas, but I have never had luck with them. The girl at the flower stand explained to me the problem when I was buying flowers yesterday. She says that I can't cut the stems and that is why they have died immediately even when I put them in water.

  58. Oh....your photos always make me sigh with wonder at your talent, June. Such beauty! We had such a fleeting autumn here, and already have snow on the ground. My heart, like yours, seems to be stuck in summer-mode and I don't want to let go of it. My soul chills at the thought of the long, cold winter ahead. But I will spend it re-connecting with my blog friends who I have neglected this past season. I look forward to seeing how you embrace this season in your beautiful home, my friend! Sending love and hugs your way!

I love the words you wrote at the end of your post - these are the perfect words to describe what I'm feeling, too. And I love the summer-autumn-contrast of your photos! Why not having summer in the house all the year long?! ;o) In our house there's a mix of summer, fall and winter in the moment, I cann't decide if I prefer a little bit of Cuba-spirit or autumn-decoration or first Christmas-feelings... Well, I think, that's okay - why not ;o))

  68. Hello Dear June,
I can't believe it is almost a month since you posted this and I bet there are no leaves left on your beautiful Birches and other trees and hydrangea bushes by now. I've been totally preoccupied in my studio creating for my Etsy shop - things have been going a bit mad! Forgive my delay here sweet friend!

Even though I still love your Summer home images in every way I look forward to your new deeper and warmer tones in your cosy home! Every thing will look gorgeous especially highlighted with your dried hydrangeas. I love them so much! It's funny as here they are just starting to bud up and we should get many heads this year as they had the biggest haircut ever at the end of Summer. The roses are to die for again and so healthy this season for some reason!

No matter the season it is such a pleasure to view each and every image you share with us. I feel so at home when I'm visiting you here!
Sending much love and kind and warm thoughts as Winter descends!
