peonies already??? really???

This garden in the mountain west seems to be about 3 weeks ahead
of a normal year.  I've never had peonies by the middle of June!

but---I'll take 'em!

a pretty reflection in the the mirror on the pine cabinet

My peonies usually bloom around the 4th of July or so.
Last year, I had to move several to sunnier spots in the garden
and didn't expect many blooms this year, but I was able to
pick a couple of large buckets of them to photograph.
I will share a few more photos of them in the next post along with
more of the lilacs photos I haven't gotten posted yet.
(yes, I still have more lilacs)
Everyday I get out in the garden a take photos of what's blooming,
but never seem to get a post done. I always think I will get on top of things,
and never seem to, but I may just surprise myself (and you) and get another
post done soon.

Have a wonderful week everyone!!!!!!

  1. So, so beautiful! Do you submit your photos to magazines? Or do they come knocking on your door for submissions? Seriously, your images are definitely magazine-worthy. Always so beautiful and dreamy. There's no spot in my home, except maybe the living room, that I can photograph where there's not something piled up with stuff. Ha! Have a great rest of the weekend. 2. June, such a beautiful sight. My lilacs have been done for some time now. The lavender is having a good year. The summer phlox is showing signs of bloom, but I'd give that all up (except the lavender) to have peonies like yours. So pretty..Happy Weekend and thanks for sharing..Judy

  17. Hello June, you surely must have very many peonies, to be able to pick such stunning bouquets , they are so beautiful. I wonder how you dry them June...do you let them stand in the vases, or are they hung by the stems ? I would love to try, and my first attemt was not satisfying .
I hope your summer is great !!

  19. I always love your photos of your beautiful flowers and especially the peonies. I need to drive by the one place I know that has a large peony bush and see if they are blooming yet. If so, I can cut a few for my house and my own photographs. However, we are still having VERY cool nights here at 7,000 ft. elevation in the high desert of Northern Arizona so I don't know if there are any blooming anywhere in town. If there are, I'm going to find them. If not, I'll look in July when it gets warmer.

    Thanks for the lovely photos.
