snaps around the house

A few things in the house caught my eye, so I got the camera out to snap a
few of them to post today.

of course it was going to mean fresh and dried flowers because those
are the things I love most.

Inside the cabinet behind the roses are some more of my favorite things.

like this dance recital invite from my 3 little granddaughters who are now
17, 15 & 12

below is a darling little photo of my 'laughing angel' Landon when
he was 2

in the picture below are all of the children on a family vacation
~where have the years gone?~
now they all have children these ages of their own

I also have this photo of my grandfather and his sisters in Tennessee hanging
in the cabinet to remind me of my roots
(and because I love that he hung his hat on the mule before the photo was taken)

dried daffodils from the garden

This same cabinet has gone from house to studio and back to house again.
I think it should stay here awhile
(because I'm pretty sure Dale will make sure it does :))))
It's one heavy cabinet.

I love collecting little books with pretty jackets

of course there would be dried peonies somewhere in this post...right

I love how the daffodils dry
I just leave them standing in the vase and let them dry completely.

the dry air here is perfect for drying flowers---and skin :)

a little reflection of another cabinet brought in from the studio, now hanging
in the family room

same mirror different angle into living room

a thrift store painting in a bedroom

even the bathroom had something to offer

a little rose wreath I made from tiny dried garden roses last year
I think they were from the rose 'The Fairy'

tins on the shelf

Have a wonderful weekend to all of you who read here!
and thanks for stopping by

sending hugs your way...

Everything is so beautiful June. The fact that each piece holds a special place in your heart makes it all the more comforting as it delights your day, pacifies your morning or brings a feeling of calm to the evening.
I hope you are well and enjoying the Summer. I'm not sure if you have been effected by smoke from the wildfires in your region but I hope not...

Your house is so pretty, a home full of warmth and memories. Thank you for taking us on a stroll through your lovely home. I love the pictures, the best memories. Love the one with your grandfather, love very old pictures like that. You can see how people had to pose and how a photograph was something very special then, not the everyday thing it is now. Love the fact about the hat, so funny indeed. Amazing how those daffodils dry so beautifully! I had seen dried roses and peonies but never daffodils. Love the tins in your last picture!!! Aw, your home, it is so full of beautiful things June, old and new, saw some Pip Studio ;) which I also love, of course. A home to treasure!
Big hug,
Marian

I also love collecting and put here and there some old photographs of our family past time, it keeps everything alive, even if you put them amongst dry flowers ( I do love them too ), and so are old books ... actually, I'm going to realise that our tastes are quite similar !

Keep alive this inner Joy that you share with us, you blessed !

Just a few snaps from around the house - the title of your post left me clapping my hands. I already knew there was a special treat for us to read. June - really !! everything always looks so pretty, warm and inviting. I am not alone in saying that your home makes me want to snuggle down among the pretty floral pillows and soft flowers. There is a bit of melancholy weaving in your words as you talk about your family.
I love the mix of different china patterns all together (and don't they make the best sound when you stack them?). It's beautiful ......... as always.

sending you hugs,

everything is so beautiful and swoon worthy! I've not tried drying daffodils but I like the way they look so I will be doing that next year, if I remember. Yikes this growing older has it's moments, mostly joyful thank Goodness. Love the old pictures it something inside of me that is almost an obsession looking at the photos of my family from way back and wondering what life was like then. I watched "how green was my valley" last night and I never knew it was such a touching movie...right up my ancestors alley. wow, we have it so easy, lots of time to play and enjoy this beautiful world. take care and I hope we can get over there sometime soon.

Dear Adorable June,

Did you know your home is one I could just snuggle up on the sofa and just go ahhh, I'm here to relax and rejuvenate. Your post always come at the perfect time when my brain needs refreshing. I can get lost in all the pretty photos of flowers and family. It seem I'm ready to tackle the day again and weeds, ha-ha! My traveling has been wonderful but oh my has my yard suffered. My only saving grace in all the weeds is I still have flowers to bring into the house. Don't think I didn't think of you as we neared your state. But unfortunately we crossed in the northern part and came home through WA. Otherwise, if I would have been remotely close I would have shouted and waved liked a wild woman!! As always love you!! Your home is always a beautiful treat to see. Your dried Peonies I believe are my favorite and I look forward to seeing them every year. I treasure your peonies because it is too hot to grow them here. I have tried. The heavy wood cabinet that has returned to your home from your studio is such a beauty. The vintage wood always brings such depth to a room. I have a vintage buffet from my Mom that is dark aged wood in our living room that I favor. I am so thankful that I never painted it! Thank you for all of your lovely visits. I do leave replies when I can on my blog but am unsure who reads them. There is a recent one for you. x

June,
Beautiful snaps, beautiful post. I am back from my blogging break (I took a month off to work on our renovations).I really missed reading blogs! June I so relate to your words and treasured pics and displayed invites of your children and Grands. While on break I took time to look through stored memories that I've kept in hat boxes. It's time for me to take a walk down memory lane, my heart is getting stronger and healing from my loss. I am putting together memory books for my Grands Gabrielle who is 19 and cutie pie Dane who just turned 13. I'm right there with you - Where did the years go? Time really does fly.
Your dried daffodils are exquisite! I really want to do this next Spring, quick question did you put any water in the vase and let the daffodils absorb it before the drying process? I love your cabinet hanging that was brought in from your studio. Your Rose garland is so pretty June. I want to steal/borrow your idea. I now have petite Coral roses drying from last weeks bouquet. The roses were such a unique color and when the light light hit the petals they were translucent. But the roses are drying into a pretty hard pink and losing a bit of their coral, still beautiful in this new transformation. I want to garland the 12 rosebuds. Thank you for always posting inspirational beauty.

Vera

Hello dear June, I had a lovely surprise and a smile at your lovely words on my blog this morning!
Oh June what wonderful photographs you have, I love looking back at all mine as well. I know.... Where does the time go, it just whizzes past and now they're married with children of their own. It's hard to take in isn't it?

Thank you for thinking of me,I heartily hope things do get back into alignment soon. My younger daughter is to be married in March next year, in Scotland, so a good few hours drive between there and here, I need to be fit enough for that!

Sending loving thought back to you June I'm so blessed to have that connection with you that you mentioned.

All gorgeous as usual June! I had never thought of drying Daffodils. Love the look and will surely try it. I have just thrown them out when they look like that, but they really are delightful. I thought that Peonies would just fall apart. Any trick to drying them, or do you just put them in a pitcher and let them air dry? Love the old photographs! I keep out old ones of my grands. Love seeing them when they were little. Love your pretty tins and I have got to make a rose bud garland.

Hi JUNE, I know I am late in visiting things have not given me a minute of time to sit and visit the way I tlike to.
Your home is like your own personal cottahe chic book with every photo sharing it's breathtaking beauty.
I love the layers of piece you have added from very white to pale rawness of wood, it adds so much depth to how you live and allows pretty little mixes of things you have gathered up accent it's richness in weathered and perfectly perfect.

Your little grandson happens to bbe one of my daughters most favorite names, ever since she saw the movie ..."A WALK TO REMEMBERS" with that dreamy kid in it who romanced the dieing girl in it she fell in love with him and his name was Landon.
Not sure if that would be a top contender this many years later, will see maybe someday.

The dried flowers are just as beautiful as the fresh living, and for all those flower ladies, don't get upset when I say this? I have to admit that I prefer them dried over living, something just so heirloom-ish about them when they have very little life in them.

Thank you for sharing your beauty here, now we want a tour of bedrooms, it's only fair? I shared my small French cottage rooms :)

Xoxo
A beautiful week ahead of you.

Dearest June,
I already walked (virtually) through your beautiful living areas for several times, and each time it's a pure pleasure for me. All these lovely displays with flowers and mirrors and family memories - it's like a fairy tale! Particularly pretty the pictures of your children and grandchildren and your grandfather, they tell of a time that has already passed - but for a moment it is possible to immerse oneself back in time.
Lots of hug and kisses, my dear!
