Coming up roses...

'Champlain' Rose

'Starry Night' rose

'Adalaide Hoodless' rose

'Aunt Honey' rose

'Gourmet Popcorn' with 'Henry Kelsey'

'Colette' with 'Hidcoat' lavender

I'm loving life right now. The warm, ok, HOT weather has finally come to my part of Idaho. I'm so loving it. I am one of those people who are always cold. I make everyone who visits my home suffer terribly by always having the fire blazing in winter and little or no air conditioning on in summer, just the windows open letting the breeze cool the house. On very hot days, we turn it on of course. The nights here are very cool and it's perfect for sleeping. To me the perfect day is getting up early, going to 'The Corner', as we all call our convenience store, and getting my Coke and visiting with my father-in-law and his pals for a few minutes at the round table. Have you ever seen those movies or videos of small town life, when someone rolls into town and stops at the bar or the gas station, and the locals just sit there and stare at them like they're going to eat them for lunch? Well, that's my town. (Hey, we get hungry here!) Then I go home and sit at the computer a few minutes and see what you are all up to. Then I love to see the smiling face of my sweet angel, Landon, when he wakes up. Then it's out to the garden to see what's new. I just walk around and say hi to all the plants and birds and check what needs watering and pull a few weeds. Usually without my gloves on, and that's why I could sand wood with my bare hands right now. My fingernails are never clean and my hands are rough this time of year. But I love the garden and would stay out in it all day. Some days that's exactly what I do. And that's why I'm lovin' life right now and things are coming up roses.

Pretty flowers...

It got a little hot here in small town Idaho today. It was 96 degrees, which is hot for the area I live in. I don't know how some of you do it with the heat and humidity that you are having now. Our heat is a dry heat which is easier to take, other than I am wrinkling at a much faster pace than most. My skin is so dry, I can hear myself cracking. Now, I'm not going to complain about this heat, because it took so long to get it here. Out my window tonight is a beautiful lightning show. I'm glad I stayed up to do this post so I could see it. I love lightning and thunder. I've loved it since I was a child. I would climb out my sister's window and sit on the roof and watch it until it was time to come in and go to bed. (Mom, if you're reading this, I know you didn't know I was putting my life at risk, but I'm still here so all is well). I love this time of year. I love this time in the garden. I love the smells, I love the sounds, I love the colors and textures, and I love going out every morning to see what is new in the way of blooms. I thought I would share some
of them with you . I hope you enjoy them.

Some new garden pictures...and I've been tagged.

Through one of my arbors.

The Japanese tree lilac in bloom.

Delphinium and roses.

I have been tagged by Keke at http://inmysepiastudio.blogspot.com/. I am to tell ten things that you probably don't already know about me and then tag ten others. Don't feel that you have to play if I tag you, but if you would like to, then by all means.

1. My husband and I were high school sweethearts and we have been married for 37 years.

2. I love being a mom, but I REALLY love being a grandmother.

3. I don't like my husband's job. I never really have, but the older I get, the more I dislike him being a police officer. The world is a different place than when he started 24 years ago. I'm glad that he has a job, but will be very happy when he retires.

4. I don't leave Landon for more than one night at a time. I worry about him the whole time I am away from him, so I find that a one night break is plenty for me.

5. I have killed two rattlesnakes in my life and I hope that it never becomes three times. One of these times was while I was hiking, by myself, in the middle of nowhere. I took a step and quickly realized that I had stepped right on a snake. I dreaded looking down for fear that it was a rattler and even was bracing for the bite, no matter what kind of a snake it was. As I feared, it was a rattlesnake and luckily I had stepped on him about four inches or so down from his head. So I took my other foot and 'stomped the soup out of him' as my husband would say. I can tell you that I've never been so scared and I've never gone hiking alone again.

6. Are you bored stiff yet? OK, then here goes the rest. I go shopping in the closest big town once a week whether I need anything or not. It's my sanity time and I enjoy it very much even though it is a 60 mile drive, one way.

7. My husband does part-time security at the home of a famous couple. He has been there for 15 years and enjoys it very much. They are very good to him and all their security people. I can't post their names because of a privacy clause in the contract and I would hate a Google search to come back to this blog, but her most famous movie was probably 'Ghost' and the one I liked best of his was 'The Sixth Sense'.
8. My husband and I used to teach western swing dancing.

9. I love to mow my lawn. Not with a ride around, but a push mower. It gives me a chance to think without any interruptions. It is as calming as yoga to me.

10. I laugh at myself all the time and try not to take life too seriously. Humor is very important to me and if you really knew me you might think I'm funny.
