Late August blooms...

These first two photos are of my 'Lambert Closse' rose
and 'Limelight' hydrangea. This rose is a repeat bloomer
and is showing it's stuff again. Love it!

Well the garden is still sending up blooms for me. I don't like to think of it being the end of summer and in a few short weeks I'll be cutting back all these lovely perennials to get them ready for winter. Right now however, I choose not to think about that. I choose to sit back and enjoy all the roses and hydrangeas and other blooms that will keep the garden colorful until the first hard frost.
I have much to be grateful for this summer. Grateful that I enjoyed good health so that I could keep this garden. Grateful that my family loves and appreciates it and enjoys spending time in it. Grateful that my grandchildren are able to play faeries and hide and seek in this garden. Grateful that my husband would rather be here in the hammock than any other place on the earth. Grateful that I could share this garden on this blog with all of you.

    Oh June, once again I am in love with your gardens! They are so absolutely dreamy... I would spend every minute of the day out there! I especially love to see your flowers after you have dried them and used them in arragements inside as well...How much acreage do you have? Looks like you have at least an acre... we used to have that, and I had huge gardens, now mine is fairly small...so cute your grandchildren like to play faeries and hide and seek in them...I would too!     It's simply GORGEOUS! I love the hot pinks next to the cool limes -- art in the garden. Monet would be knocking on your garden gate with a pallette and easel in hand.

    What a breathtaking way to unwind after doing all the dishes and tidying the kitchen! Thanks for leaving the gate open and the welcome mat out.

    Hi June,
    Your late summer blooms are beautiful! I love your roses. I have Lambert Closse but it didn't bloom as well as yours. How often do you fertilize and what do you use? Do you deadhead diligently?
    I feel the same way about summers end. Too bad we didn't live closer-I would love to stroll through your garden with you.

    I have a peegee hydrangea also and have never pruned it, but it needs it desperately. Do you cut it all the way back to the ground in the fall /late winter or just partway?

    Your garden and yard are just amazing! They sure don't look like fall, and then winter, are on the way. It all looks so summery still. I just phlox. I had them in my yard in Chicago and they smell just heavenly. I don't even know if they would grow here. Not that I would plant them. I don't garden. I just enjoy other people's gardens! Like yours!

    Your garden is still so beautiful. You are so right to enjoy it's beauty now and don't think of the decay. That will come anyway, why bother now and let it interrupt your joy in the garden? No pumpkins for us here either at this moment, maybe later, when the garden needs an extra splash of color. What a lovely post and I love the end.     Your garden is gorgeous. I would be in heaven if my yard looked like this. I usually have beautiful roses (I have no idea what kind) that bloom around our pergola...but this year they were horrible. I have no idea what to do to help them. Bad gardener:-)

    OHHHHH dear June, your garden is so charming and huge!! you're really lucky to have so many flowers still blooming! mine are already gone! the last ones were lavender - which i'm now drying to later use. my roses are all gone by now! it's still summer, but you can now feel the colder air in the morning and late afternoon!! What a great time your grandchildren had! those days will be for sure on their memories, as some of them are on mine from the time i spent at my grandparents houses as a child. I do try to creat good memories for my children too. Thanks for your comments and for sharing the garden beauty. Have a great September,
