The August garden...

I would love to show you around the garden today.
In August, the garden takes on many different
 colors and textures.
It took me a long time to get color to last through the  season here.

In Spring and early Summer the garden would be awash in color, and then
would go through a period of very few blooms at all for a short while.

I've been able to plan better through the years, and now we
enjoy color almost constantly all season long.

Tall garden lilies and roses

Trumpet lilies
(taller than me)

Daylilies and Annabelle hydrangea

The monarda is keeping the bees and butterflies happy.

and giving beautiful color to the August garden.

I love this clematis on the driveway fence...

Love old garden spray nozzels.

Thank you for walking around parts of the garden with me today.

I so enjoy your company!!!
See you soon...for more blooms.
(and a little garden tea)

  4. It's beautiful June. I love geraniums the most. Over the year Dean and I spent so much money in plants and between gophers and heat nothing last. The only flowers that we enjoy most of the year is geranium, "the rose of the poor". I am glad you are in blogland today. Ciao Rita

  5. June, your gardens should be in the magazines, beautiful. Thank you very much for the tour. I too am in the time when not much is in bloom, but then at the end of August all of the fall flowers start to show their true colors. I hope you are enjoying the rest of your summer.

  15. Thanks for your thoughts on your August garden, June. I have some of my monarda in the wrong place so I'm going to move it into the sun. More lilies, too. I love your lilies, they're gorgeous. In fact your garden is absolutely luscious, a lot of work I know but it's really spectacular. Diane

It's fun to see how you accessorize your outdoors... gorgeous! Love all the chippy painted stuff. ;o) All of your flowers are beautiful! I love geraniums. Mine bloom straight through from spring to fall.

  18. Oh June. This was wonderful! I would just love to have a piece of property like yours. We had a smaller version at our old house, and I worked in it all the time! And then moved here - along with the snakes and I don't do much gardening any more. Do you have snakes where you are? They just scare the bejeepers out of me, and I would die if one turned out to be a rattler, which is a very good possibility. So ! NOPE! Not here. I'm counting the months until we can move again. And I can have old windows and roses like yours. Sigh. Perfect!
Loved this. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!!
    HUGS!! Karen

  19. Dear June,
You know how much I love taking a stroll around your beautiful garden.......it is so lovely. I have an urn exactly the same as yours...the white, rusty one. You are a brilliant gardener and you should be so proud of it. It takes a LOT of work to get it like that. Just divine and it is a joy to see photographs of it through the seasons. XXXX

  20. Hi June,
My favorite is that photo with the old nozzles. I have one here and a couple old sprinklers too I purchased years ago... can't seem to find them around here anymore. Your garden is beautiful and huge too. I was thinking about you the other day when I heard they were rounding up wild mustangs here the other day... thought if I just had lots of land like June I'd have them live with moi. Gee my hubby would love that (actually, I think he would). Oh to have all that beautiful land, what a blessing! Okay... now that I've written a book I'd better say good-bye. You always share such inspiring photos. Thank you!

    Happiness to you!

  26. Like everyone else, simply beautiful. My lilies are almost done but my roses are still in bloom. I need to work on a few more blooms for late summer.I'm already planning for next year, that is if I don't move my tent into your garden, hee-hee! I would so love to know what kind of camera you have. Of course it helps to have talent, which I'm lacking in photography. Hugs and enjoy!!!!

  36. You are more than cute, June! Thank you for your heart-felt comment. You're crushin' on my garden shed? Crushin' is a word we use around here a lot (not by hubby's choice). Have you seen The Note w/Genie Francis? I think you have. Have loved her for years, even been told we look a bit alike... I'll tell you about that another time though ;)
About not measuring up and the pre-fab issue, you are a silly lady. We women are too hard on ourselves, we want to be everything to everyone and be the best at it all. We live in a tiny (oops, petite) house and I was feeling the same about not measuring up. It's time we women give ourselves a break! Let's start here... I say we women start crushin' on ourselves, okay?
Would love to say hello to your horses and tell them about the wild mustangs~

I read recently that the zones have changed, and we are now in zone 5. So as a little experiment, I have planted lavender, foxglove and delphinium in with all the native wildflowers in my little foundation garden - fingers crossed they will make it through the winter!
I look forward to your next tour, dear friend!

  61. June,
I look forward to your amazing garden all winter long. Someday I will see them in person, I promise. (woo, that sounds like a scary stalker threat) I promise to call first. I'll make you a deal. You let me & Jodie come visit & stay in the cottage & you can come to Texas & we'll play & shop for days. My garden is so sad right now. I actually took pictures awhile back & was so proud of my one hydrangea bush & puny rose bush. I even managed to cut 2 little bouquets. Now the darn thing is fried up like an over cooked pork chop. You'd cry. Weeds everywhere. with it being 105 I just don't care about getting out there to care for it anymore. There's always next year, right? Lisa

  65. I am now 100% convinced that you live on an ESTATE...oh my gosh it's so very, very beautiful there....the grass is so green...and looks soft like you could walk barefoot on it...and it looks like "real" grass...by that I mean not "St Agustine Grass" like we have here in Texas...YUCK...which in reality...are weeds...but very heat tolerant.
What a JOY it must be for you to
    live exactly where you are.

GOD BLESS YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR HOME.
