January roses~

I thought it would be fun to make rose garlands from the
dried roses I saved over the summer.
The roses were too pretty to toss,
so I sat down and made some to hang around the house.

Some just shattered when I tried to tie them together but I ended
being able to salvage a few.

I love dried roses.
I like how they look in every setting.

The birdcage seemed like a reasonable place to drape one when I finished.

I finished the curtain I was making for the master bath from the beautiful fabric I
got from Peony and Sage.

I love how it turned out!

With my leftover roses I made some wreaths to hang over the bed.
I used the cedar wreaths I had made for Christmas as the base.
I'm pleased with them and how they look in the room.

A little Valentine-y I think!

I wanted to make them fuller, but many of the roses shattered when I tried to
glue them onto the cedar, so this is what I ended up with.

Well, that's a few more things I have to check off my 'to do' list.
It feels good to see the list getting shorter and shorter and 'stuff ' actually being made into
something tangible and useful.

January 2013 will be over tomorrow and February will then be here.
I love the month of February!
I don't know if it has anything to do with Valentines Day,
but I do LOVE my chocolates!

I hope you all have had a great 2013 so far,
and will continue to do so!
sending many hugs your way!

Oh Dear June
What beauty you have created with just dried roses and twine plus the three rose wreaths over your bed head.
It takes very little to create so much beauty in your hands! Love especially the rose buds.

Your curtains also look so perfect on that window with that casual frill - they turned out beautifully!

Not sure if you read about the horrendous bush fire we had here a couple of weeks ago which came within 300 metres of our boundary.
The temp that day was 50degC plus out in our garden and we stayed and
fought our place with high pressure fire hoses for 5 hours - all safe in the end but so much was scorched and singed but everything will recover in time - especially us!
We lost nothing!!!
Read about it on my blog and I do have a GIVEAWAY also which closes here on 1st Feb.
Sending so many grateful hugs with love for being able to share with you about our gardens dear friend.

I am SO enjoying seeing all these pretty florals on a dreary January day. Your home looks fantastic June! Your dried flower creations are perfect. Although some petals shattered along the way, I think the more simplistic result is quite appealing. Your simple cedar wreaths on the wall are AMAZING!

Dear June, the dried roses turned out beautifully. The trio of wreaths are perfect. Could you spray them with something to stabilize them? I dry roses that I am given but only lay them about so I know nothing about this. I used to spray a grass I had in the house, that came from a swamp, with hair spray and it quit shedding everywhere. I have been working in my garden and getting it ready for spring and my forsythia is already blooming because of our crazy warm weather-we do need cold temperatures. have a terrific weekend, olive

Sweet June,

How wonderful of you to get back to me about my inquiry regarding that magnificent notion on your header. LEAVE IT TO THE FRENCH to have the most exquisite vintage treasures. One of the many things I love, and I know many of the rest of us Francophiles is that the French sensibility toward living in general is composed of such lovely details. Oh keep that trim exactly for what you are doing with it. Some things were meant to never be "used" but to simply admire, untouched.

BRAVO! And keep warm! Much love, Anita

Dearest June, your decoration with roses looks so elegant and nostalgic, it doesn't matter that there are only a few roses - that's especially pretty and delicate. I also want to thank you for your nice comments! Mr. Rusty Rose was so happy to read that he looks handsome with the cowboy hat! :o)) I also think that it looks good on him, but cowboy hats just fit much better to men on horses than to men taking the subway ;o)) If he wouldn't work in in a bank in Vienna, he would probably have purchased a Stetson ... I'm not sure if you ever read my posts about our friend Edwin *) - he lives in Austria, too, but not in a big city, just in a little village and he has horses. He's an Austrian version of a cowboy - but they are very rare here ;o))
Very warm hugs, my dear!

With our two new mommies, babies, late hours, running meals, and a very independent MIL with dementia to deal with, visiting here is a delight, so inspiring, and just a sweet respite for me. Thank you for that!

Oh and your curtain is utterly charming! I love their fabric, and would love to get my hands on some!

May your day be filled with gentle blessings and some of the joy you give away!
