Heavenly Springtime smells in the house and garden.

This time of year is such a favorite time in this valley.
Although windy and wild with temperature changes, it's
beauty is like NO other!

Our Winters are so long and cold here that we all wait to see the first sign of green
on the edges of the roads letting us know that Spring is here and soon the trees
will start leafing out. Well, now the trees are covered in green leaves and
we have mowed our lawn 3 times so it is proof that it is indeed here again,
even though I have had to have
a fire in the wood stove several times including this morning!

A little more proof of this glorious time of year are the blooms below!

I have been taking photos every day of the many blooming trees and shrubs in the garden
and will be sharing a bunch of them here.
I have so many, that my computer is probably groaning under the load of them.

I will be showing many more lilacs in another post because they are still blooming profusely
and I can't seem to stop getting the camera out to take their photo.

The double lilac above are so fragrant but I don't know the name of them.
The white ones below are called Avalanche and are my very favorite.
The smell is intoxicating!!!

I took these photos two days ago and you can see that things in the garden are still very immature.
The overnight temps have been so chilly that things have just started to really get going.
Most of the roses in the beds are just now getting many of their leaves, but it changes by the day so it
won't be long until they cover themselves and then put out buds.

 Snowdrift crab apple in bloom.

This tree is always covered in blooms and bees this time of year.

In the front of this photo is the Canada Red chokecherry in bloom with one of the Centurion
crab apples (pink) behind it.
I can't believe how packed with blooms this tree is year after year.

Oh how I LOVE this crab apple!
The bunting in this photo is made from the beautiful new line of fabrics by Peony and Sage
called Nordic. I like how it looks amid the pink blossoms.

I don't think you could fit another blossom on those branches if you tried!

The tree below is Brandywine crab apple.
When the buds first form they remind me big pink gumballs!

This bloom is so pretty in all stages.

This is how it looked yesterday. It's a little fuzzy because of the wind we had,
but I just had to share it here.

I still have so many lilac photos to post so I will be back in a few days.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

Sending hugs....
June

Oh June your flowering trees are just beautiful. You have my favorite flowering tree, I love the brandy wine crabapple. I think I may have missed buying them at the nurseries this year but it is at the top of the list for next year. Such beautiful pictures, I can almost smell them. I think it is going to be a wonderful spring this year, the roses are packed with buds. Happy Spring my friend. Alaina

Beautiful! Our lilacs & redbuds are finished blooming but iris & peonys are beginning to bloom. We've had a long, slow spring & lots of cool nights (not normal for southern Mo.). Have a wonderful holiday weekend! Jan

Oh June, like you out there, we too have the longest winters and our trees are barely starting to get their leaves! But this has been the week of the crabapple, and we are in awe of the beautiful range of pinks and the white blooms that are now showering us like snow!

YOU are the queen of photo vignettes. Those lilacs and silver vases, the chairs....I have to practice!

Sending you a cheery wish for a lovely weekend! Anita

So much beauty June, and though our springtime is quickly marching into summertime, it's nice to see spring blossoms once again!

And I can relate to wanting to take lots of pics of lilacs...my current obsession is roses.

Lilacs are one of my favorites and your photos are just gorgeous. I just wish there blooms lasted longer. We had a heat wave and all of mine bloomed in one day and then got really wilted, now we're back to lots and lots of rain and they are pretty much done! One of my bushes was loaded this year. Now I need to plant a white one:-)

Hope your weather has been better than ours. Typical Oregon weather!

Btw, are you planning on going to Farm Chicks this year? I'd love to meet you in person:-)

I can just smell this delicious post. I'm relishing our blooms, too, however the wind has been so ugly all day I'm surprised there are any flowers left on the bushes. Beautiful post, June. Diane

So, so pretty. In addition to the beautiful fragrance Lilacs are one of the most romantic flowers. I can't help but think of another era and envision ladies in long skirts floating through the garden filled with lilacs.

It's it fun to be back playing in the garden.

Goodness me...such a lovely (and delightfully fragrant) post! You live in a world of enchantment surely!
Our humble lilacs are just beginning, as the weather has fluctuated horribly...90 degrees to 45 degrees, and back again. The wee blooms (as well as this gardener) are are whirling in state of confusion.
Thank you for sharing your gardens June...I shall NEVER tire of drinking their beauty!
Wishing you much joy...

Sweet June,
such amazing flowers in your beautiful garden- and fantastic how you can make the lilacs stand strong in your vases inside ,too- How do you do that? When I take them inside, they alwayes fall together, already on the first day- even I hammer strongly on their hard stems, to give them a possibility to drink more water-???
I love your many arts, -I have only two---many in lilla and some few whites !! I do have a Paradise Apple tree- I wonder if it the same as your Brandywine ? looks totally the same.
Oh and such beautiful photoes, as alwayes, dear- so sweet with the white lillacs in that blue box!
Here the temps are just like where you live, and also my roses are only starting to have very little buds- I dearly hope they will get water and sun enough rto blossom this year!!
Hugs from Dorthe

Dear June, how I love this beautiful photos from your garden. I look forward to see more during the summer.
This winter was hard, so I lost four rose trees and some other trees. Now I tried with new ones, so maybe next year.

A joy to behold June! I never tire of your photos and flowers! They feed the soul. I can smell them from here in Alabama. It is starting to get humid again as summer is upon us, but we have some cool days still. Like today, and as I transplant begonias today, I will think of your lilacs and remember how good God is to give our planet such beautiful gifts.
Joy in you day June!

How wonderful your lilacs are out! Ours are being very tardy here. Our neighbours white lilac overhangs our garden and I love it, I never knew it was called Avalanche. What a truly perfect name, though I always think it looks like Manna from heaven.and smells good enough to eat too. Speaking of fragrance, my conservatory was filled with the perfume of peonies this morning.....my first bouquet this year bought for me by my lovely husband, magical! I wish I had them in my garden though like you dear June.

Biggest hugs for you my lovely friend way over there! X

Oh Dear June
I have never seen anyone photograph those lilacs so beautifully with them standing in the tarnished pots on the timber table. This is truly where your artistic heart shines.
I only wish I could walk with you around the garden at the moment to view all of your magnificent crab apples and the bees adore them don't they?
I can never get enough of your images sweet friend! Thank you so much for sharing them with us to brighten our Winter days here where our Autumn leaves have almost finished but still the odd rose begs a close up sniff!!!
Love and blessings to you dear friend,
Suzy
PS Thank you for your kind comments on my "Birds Inspire" Fabric and Lace book!

Oh, June, what beautiful blooms and such great photos of them. That crab apple tree is just gorgeous and I love the bunting and your little table vignette under the tree. Your lilacs are wonderful and I'm so glad you will be showing more. I never can get enough of lilacs and mine put out a pretty sad showing this year. They were as pretty but not very many and did not last very long. I don't know what the problem was, but I just enjoy yours..Happy Weekend..Judy

How amazingly gorgeous everything is! If I want a bouquet of anything, it's going to have to come from the florist. And there's no amount of money that could reproduce the beauty that comes from your garden!

What a lovely comment you left me last night! Isn't it true that if each one of us would to commit to spreading beauty that we could make a real difference? I wish the entire WORLD would take a break from war and negativity to see what we could really accomplish. Thank you for the loveliness that you spread to us here, with your visual poetry that just captures the heart and mind.
