beautiful blossoms

The scents coming from the garden right now are nothing short of heavenly.

all ten of the crabapple trees are blooming!
The most fragrant and earliest to bloom are the Centurians.
I have three in a row in the rear garden and so when I walk out my backdoor this is what I see.

They, along with the seven Canada Red chokecherries
just fill the garden with the most wonderful scents you can imagine.
Usually the lilacs bloom the same time but they are a little late this year.
It will be a few more days until I will be enjoying them.

These are photos I took of them four days ago and now their blooms have gone from
this deep pink to a very soft pink today. I won't be including photos of their
pretty pastel pink for a few days since I was just able to take a few today
and haven't re-sized them yet.

The bees are really working these trees and you can hear the buzzing the
minute you go out the door.

I am loving every day spent outside right now. I go to bed completely worn out
and it is the best kind of tired I know.

I'm a very unorganized gardener. I flit from one thing to the next.
It seems to be my way, and it works for me since my motto is...
No time is wasted while gardening. Every task needs doing whether it's done today
or tomorrow!
My husband just wishes I would get the mulching done so he can use his trailer again :)

One good thing about my late Idaho Spring is that I have a little more time to put things in order
and accomplish things before the frosts quit coming. I'm still dividing perennials and transplanting them and even cutting out the dead canes in the roses.

I wanted to share a bouquet of daffodils I managed to cut just a day before we had a rain
and get a few photos of them.

a double white daffodil below

I know that so many of you have gone through a very difficult Winter, weather-wise this year
and are happy to see the spring come. I am always happy to have spring show up, but have to admit
that I really loved my winter this year. I am learning to really enjoy the slower pace of winter
and the soul-searching that happens during that time of year for me.
I need it to center myself and reset my brain.
Since I live in an area where because of weather (and because I live in the sticks),
I have to slow down, it affords me
this opportunity and I'm grateful for it.
With all that said---I am happy to have a new season to embrace and
to 'go a little crazy in'!

The colors are just beautiful and what a wonderful view to greet you as you step out your back door. At our previous home, I always appreciated the slower time of Winter, having been very busy with gardening in the months of Spring through Fall. I looked at Winter as my time to rest, as it was gardens time to rest, too. I love the slower pace of Winter, I just don't like all the snow and ice! : )

Just gorgeous dear June!... you are about a month behind us, so you are still enjoying the beautiful blooms we did here in Utah a month ago... my miniature Miss Kim Lilac is just starting to bloom... I love seeing your blossoms in your French pitcher and basket... and your bouquet of daffodils is just stunning!... I know exactly what you mean about being tired at night, but you are right... it is the very best kind of tired... I hope your winter brought you much peace and contentment... I call it my time to plan and dream... plot and scheme what I want in my gardens come Spring... and now I know you are loving being out in your beautiful gardens as well ... much love, xoxo Julie Marie

The crab apple blossoms are so very beautiful! Gorgeous images, as ever.
I garden as you do - a little weeding here, a little planting there, and then 'oh' that little wheelbarrow needs a lick of paint. As you say, though, it's never wasted time in the garden.

June, Your blossoms look wonderful . I enjoy our trees that bloom, but because of the hard winter or slow on again off again spring, our weeping cherry and red bud did not produce many blooms. I am going to have to make myself start loving every day...not just the sunny ones. Blessings to you and your family, xoxo,Susie

Our spring has been late, too ~ but the snow is finally gone from Shaffer Butte (home of Bogus Basin ski area), which means we can plant freely now... YAY!!
There is nothing better than the sound of bees buzzing around our flowers!
Did you get any of the thunderstorms today??
Hugs ~

Oh good for those bees! The blossoms are wonderful of course. And as usual I love the way you have photographed them with the French wire basket and a French pitcher on that wonderful table. We have a nice winter climate in NM, and we had a mild winter, but I'm still thrilled to have spring! haha! It's all just lovely, June!

How stunningly beautiful. I have crab trees but mine are all a very soft pink and I love the deeper pink of yours. My heart always beats a little faster when I see one of your posts because I know it is going to be lovely.

What a luvly garden and bounty of flowers. I would spend so much time in the midst of the trees just soaking up the beauty with brush in one hand... and canvas in the other.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your beautiful garden with me.

Oh- So- Very- Beautiful, June. I am just in love with all your photos and your wonderful gardens.

Our crab apples have not even shown the first bud yet and our lilacs have not begun to really green up either. It was a long cold winter here and I felt anxious for much of it....unusual for me....

You are right- gardening tired is different than another other type of "tired", isn't it? The pleasant ache that says you were bent over a bit too long; the slowness of getting up from a pulling weeds position. I cherish every moment I can spend outside.

I am anxious to get started now and just a tad jealous of your weather! xo Diana

Dear June, it`s always the most wonderful and joyful thing to visit your garden when everything is blooming so beautifully, plus your pictures tell the love that is behind this beauty.

Good to know there are bees around your garden; here most of them have dissappeared and have red how huge amounts of them are dying because of pesticides used all over the world.

A great moment to visit your world.
many hugs

Dear June. I love love those beautiful pink blooms in your garden. When I read about all the trees you have in your garden it must be more of a park and so. Beautiful. We had a soft winter too but I didn't,t really mind. It keeps me from worrieing about all the people who are on the road when there is a lot of snow. We all have our worries, LOL enjoy your garden and spring my friend.

Your photos are heavenly June. Not only does it smell like heaven, but looks like it too. All of my honeysuckle trees are blooming right now and the air is pregnant with their fragrance. Usually my wisteria bloom at the same time, but the severe winter killed all the blooms and many of the branches.
I too am learning to enjoy winter and as much as I love spring and gardening, I was a little reluctant to see it go. I find I don't enjoy the winter weather as much as the fluffing my nest and snuggling I can do during these months when I have a rest from the outside work.
This summer will be a challenge as I just broke a bone in my foot and now I'm frustrated that I can't do all that I'd like. I'm trying to make the best of it and work on the things that I can and enjoy more reading and napping.
Hugs ~ Cindy

And along with them will be our darling little Great-granddaughter as well...life will be MUCH more exicting now with them here. She is 5 months old now and will be so much fun to watch growing up. I am going to set up my "studio" again ....and see if I can't get up the energy and strength..LORD WILLING to photograph her over the years...until I can do it anymore.
I know how proud and fond you are of all your family...finally we will have a little one here again.

I can find me in your words about the calmed of the winterseason. Because now I am very busy in the garden, everything pops out in a very fast way. To enjoy these flowers you have to be looking around every day and smell the sent they are sending. Those beautiful daffodils are long gone in our region. The blossems too. So thank you for bringing back that time with those beautiful pictures! Sometimes nature has no patients...
