Sharing a little fall I've been enjoying lately before
I begin decorating for the holidays. I can hardly believe
that Thanksgiving is next week and the family will all be here
enjoying each other's company and over-indulging on pies😆
gathered-garden gifts
rose hips,oak leaves, and crabapples
I love the red leaf roses and I have them everywhere.
I enjoy them most when Fall comes to the garden.
Their hips turn from an auburn color to a bright red when the weather
turns cooler and then turn more orange as their
leaves turn from red to green to yellow, and then to orange.
The Limelight hydrangeas as they blush with pink in the cooler weather
Brandywine crabapple
Below is the Golden Raindrops crabapple fruit still hanging on the tree.
It's little apples are usually the first eaten by the birds that come in flocks
in late October, but for some reason, when they flew into the garden
they devoured the snowdrift crabapple fruit that grows right next to it instead and
left it for another flock of birds sure to come later.
Snowdrift crabapples turn from green to orange in the fall
before it's foliage turns a pretty autumn gold
Centurion crabapple
Hallward's Silver spirea shrub
I have shared a little more Fall color on the garden blog too.
I wish everyone a lovely Thanksgiving holiday!!!
sending hugs to you all!
This is such a treat, June. I enjoy seeing snippets of your home, and you always seem to integrate nature inside so seamlessly! Such a sweet vignette, and then to see the sources outdoors! The crabapples are so, so pretty. You really know them well, and the birds! Very lucky little things! Are any of these apples edible? You mentioned pies... :)
ReplyDeleteSending you wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving with your family!

Almost 72 and I'm shocked and dismayed to say I've never seen rose hips growing in such profusion! Truly a sight for sore eyes (I'm just getting over eye surgery) and your pictures are like a wonderful reminder of why I'm happy to have gone through it. Rose hip jelly is now something I understand. All I ever noticed before were several hard, red, dried up hips on my rose branches here in Florida. Maybe it has something to do with variety and environmental conditions. Anyway, those pictures are gorgeous. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHiya, stranger! It is lovely to see you again! Beautiful post ~ your pictures speak a million words ~

June this is breathtaking. Your gardens in all of Autumn’s glory. I can guess that the birds find refuge there. If I were a bird I would want to live in your garden. I just posted on my blog. I am trying to return to blogging. I hope you will come by to visit. x Kerrie
