I don't need much to make me happy for Valentine's Day. I love chocolates and have dropped enough hints this past week to have earned...oh, I'd say...at the very least...one very humongus box of chocolates!
I left hints everywhere...
On his truck
I left one at the haystack so that he would be sure to see it when he feeds the horses.
I left one for when he chops the wood for the day.
I left one for him to find when he goes on duty.
Takes a shower...
When he gets his socks...
I just know he won't dissappoint me.
And just in case he did forget...I bought two! One for him and one for me!!!
I thought I would share the sweet story of how I met this wonderful man. This knight in shining armor, this best friend I've ever had.
When I was fifteen, my family moved from Boise to this little small town that I call home now. My father had been raised here and my mother had been raised in an even teenier town a short distance away. So needless to say...there were a lot of relatives in town.
I was your typical fifteen year old girl and was always scouting out my new surroundings for BOYS. Everytime I would meet a boy in my new town, I would go home and tell my mother about him and more times than not, she would say, "oh honey, I'm so sorry but he's your cousin", (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) it didn't matter, he would be related. I was beginning to hate my existance in this new town, since one of the lastest boys I had met was a dreamy, ever so handsome boy that I had just been told was my 2nd cousin (again).
My older brother was dating a girl (not related, by the way) and they decided that they would take it upon themselves to help me meet the perfect boy, the man of my dreams. Her brother.

Without me knowing of their plans, they asked me if I would like to go with them for ice cream, and of course I did. We started driving a ways out of town (and in the opposite direction of any ice cream, that's for sure) and turned down a country lane that led to a large open alfalfa field. In the distance I could see a young man with a shovel changing water (irrigating the field (yeah, I didn't know either, I was a city girl)). When I asked my brother why we were out there, he gave me some lame excuse and then said that something was wrong with the car and everybody out. Well everyone got out, but then jumped back in the car and sped down the lane leaving me out there all alone standing in the field with only this guy in the distance.
Yep, that's right...the poor guy drives up
(he didn't know what was going on either) and askes if I needed help. By now I was catching on, and asked he if would give me a ride to town, because my brother was a loser.

Awww June a funny and very romantic way to meet your soulmate:) I met my hubby on a blind date my cousin and his sister arranged and then forced me to go. That was Dec 14th, 1991 and we've been together ever since. I hope to be as lucky as you and celebrate 39 years. BTW, the hearts sprinkled about your hubby's day is so darn cute and a great idea! I may have to try that next year, he he.
Well, June, you´re a very clever woman!!
Why didn´t I get even the idea?? :D
Your story made me smile and yes, next year I´ll keep in mind to prepare some ´hints´ as well :)
Happy Valentine to you and your loved ones, best greetings,
Marjolijn

Well I would say that hubby would not get the hint...but you put it where it counts...the remote....He probably finally saw it!
Now THAT was a great story! I would've killed your brother first - then kissed him and really made him sick!

There's no way he could miss some of those "subtle" hints.
And your story of how you "met" is a great one. I bet is some ways you just dearly love your brother for it but at the time you could have easily killed him.
Match made in the farmers field! How perfect. They must have known you were meant to be together.
Thank you for letting us get to know you even better.
Happy Valentines Day!
Carole
What a sweet love story.
I guarantee he will find that hint on the remote control! LOL
Happy Valentines Day Sweet Bloggin Friend.

What a sweet story but if someone had left me out in the fields I would have shot them when I found them, sweetpea! LOL I would have been scared to death. Yeah, I know what you mean about being related. All Mormons around here are related. We're the only ones in Idaho without kin in th' state!

Okay June, that is THE most romantic post I've EVER read. I mean it. First of all to put those hearts all over the place for him to find. Now that's love. Then your sweet story. I'll bet your children love to hear it over & over again when they were small. That was mean & sneaky of your brother, but it worked! Happy V Day to you & your sweetie. Lisa

Awwwww! How very romantical...as Darla from the Little Rascals would say. I guess you and I are forever in debt to our siblings for "hooking us up" with the men of our dreams. Hee, hee, hee! Love your story. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope you had a fantabulous Valentine's Day.
Much love to you,
♥Ana

Mom your so sweet! I wonder what dad was thinking finding all of those hearts. He probably thought it was a new way for decorating and is just "going with it" because it makes sense to you!
What a guy.
Love you both.
Ember
Oh June I just loved this post! First of all, your hint dropping is classic and I will have to remember that tactic.
I just love the story of how you met your Prince Charming and I got a good giggle to your mom's reply everytime you came home gushing about a boy!
Love and hugs,
Karyn
So wonderfully romantic. I hope you got your chocolates after all the hints you dropped.
Blessings!
Gwen
A red heart "hint" looks good just about anywhere doesn't it? What a great meeting story. Come for a visit.
karen
I love your little hints that you left around the house. What a sweet, sweet idea. But then your story of how you met your husband just melted my own heart!!! However, I laughed when you said how they got back into the car and left you there. I said ...no, they didn't just leave her there???
Maybe you said and I missed it but did you and your brother marry siblings?
Oh Junie....
That's just the sweetest story ever.....You OWE your brother! By the way, did he marry the girl?
Huggies,
Spencer
