The September garden...

I took these photos a couple of days before Labor Day and this is what the garden looked like then. Now a week later the white phlox are almost finished blooming and the coneflowers are losing their color. Many roses are still blooming beautifully and my beloved sweet peas are going strong. The hydrangeas are at their peak and with the cooler night temperatures will soon start to turn a lovely pinkish hue. They will soon be ready to cut for dried arrangements in the house to cheer me through the long winter. The garden has brought me so much joy this summer. I can't think of too many things that bring me more pleasure than gardening. There is much to do in the garden in the fall to get it ready for the winter months. It is always a sad time for me, but a necessary one for the garden.
I am truly loving all the vegetables this year. The corn is gone now, but the tomatoes, peppers, squash, and cucumbers are still feeding us. I should be a pale shade of red because of all the tomatoes I have eaten this past week. I wonder if a person can overdose on tomatoes?
I hope that you are all spending these last Summer days doing the things that bring you joy!

Hello June, first off, I LOVE that you put your animals on your sidebar! They are all just precious! Now I guess it is doggie kisses TT Rabbit and horsey kisses horses!!! I love them all! Your garden still looks pretty to me... I know what you mean though, mine is pooping out now... my flowerpots are just about done... burning bushes are starting to turn a little already... lots of fall cleanup here too, but I am already dreaming about what I will plant next Spring! I don't think you can overdose on tomatoes, if you can, then I have too, love them! Will you post a little bit about your animals soon? Bisous... Julie Marie

Simply stunning ;) I long for my own vegetable garden one day {along with a flower one of course - that I can only hope and pray will be as beautiful as yours} so we too can enjoy our own home grown produce.

Even though I know it is sad to let it go for the winter...I am sure those dried hydrangeas will bring lots of pleasure and I know I am already looking forward to seeing what you do with them!

Oh my stars...June, I think I have complete garden envy :) How do you dry hydrangeas? Have you ever heard of a hydrangea called "Heirloom" ? I can't find any info on it but you know how you see the dried hyrangeas in the faded greens, burgandy and like a rust color, well these look like that when they are bloomin :) we saw them for mothers day at the grocery store and when we went back to get them, they were all out and I have had no luck finding them again. But really June keep sharing these gorgeous pictures...they always make me smile...even when I am just a lil green :) Rose

Hi June,

Your garden is beautiful and I know how much hard work and time you need to get it looking like that. I love to dry the hydrangeas and put them in baskets for over the winter months.
Your white chairs are lovely and look perfect there in the garden.

Enjoy your weekend

Hi June! Your garden is beautiful! What a lovely place to rest and think that you have created. As usual your pictures are wonderful. Thank you, again for your kind words and support. Yes....please talk to your mother about writing a will. This is going to take months to settle, not to mention the additional stress and unecessary expense.

I just went back through some of your earlier posts, and I enjoyed them so much. Your garden is just an extension of who you are...sweet, lovely and fresh. Thankyou for sharing it. You know, even when your garden is starting to fade, and when fall and winter set in, I will still want to see photos. A garden is lovely any season of the year!

Hello, June,
Your garden is wonderful! Gardens are a lot of work but well worth it. The fresh vegetables must taste scrumptious, too. Have a beautiful weekend. Vicki p.s. We have finally received RAIN here in hot, dry central Texas, and I am thanking God for every drop.

Hi June, your garden is still wonderful! I love that photo with the bucket of hydrangeas. Have you ever thought of making a calendar? It could be just for yourself, though I think you have a large audience out there, biy a blank calendar and fil it up with photos from your own garden.
Tomatoes are very very healthy, someone I know who had leukemia HAD to eat them as they detox your body. So eat as much of them as you can and be healthy and happy forever! Have a lovely Sunday, hugs LiLi

Want to know what I think?

I think when someone has the ability and talent to plan and grow such beautiful gardens it is just a a reflection of the loveliness inside of their own heart.

You soooo inspire me~

Hi June,
Your garden still looks lovely. I especially love the photo with the blue bucket of flowers on the chair.
It is hard to see the garden season coming to a close but time seems to fly so it won't be long until we will be checking for daffodils-or so I tell myself!

Take care,

Carolyn

Your garden is MAGICAL!

June,
Very lovely. It seems like something out of a dream! I too love to garden but since I now rent out my home and live with my sister and her family I no longer spend the long days working in it nor do I experience the joys that come with watching a garden closely..........There is nothing like it!

Hello June,

Dear sweet June,
Thank you for stopping by and letting me know you are thinking of me! That meant so much to me!!!! I think of you and your joyful, sweet spirit often. I have enjoyed seeing your beautiful September garden. Your photos are gorgeous! I also enjoyed reading about your plans to prepare your garden for winter. I am glad you will have your lovely dried hydrangeas to cheer you through the long winter. Here in the south I am anticipating fall gardening. We have so much to clean up since I have not worked in the garden, it has been very hot and humid, nothing unusual, I just can't take it like I used to! LOL!!! But, I do look forward to cooler temperatures and planting mums, pansies, snapdragons, violas, and sweet william. Unless we have a real severe freeze these will last all the way into spring. I love the photos of T.T. Rabbit and your horses. They all look so sweet and are just darling!!!

Love you,
Paula

Hi June,
I can only imagine keeping a garden as beautiful as yours requires a lot of work, I just never thought that a lot also went into preparing it for the winter season. I live in an area where the weather is pretty constant and the seasons are not as defined as other parts of the country, so minimal winter preparations are required. I do love your garden and can definitely appreciate all the labor of love you put into it. It really does show. Thank you for sharing your joy with us.

Hugs,
♥Ana

I'm a garden girl too but with our drought this summer I just looked out the window at my lifeless yard. It was so nice to travel through blogland gardens of green grass and flowering jewels of every color. This past week has been wet and wonderful. Little wildflowers have sprung up and doing their happy dance. Curling, crisp, dry leaves have opened to a sweet shade of green. The temperatures have fallen from 100+ to 80s and 90s. Each season brings its own treasures. Thanks for sharing your lovely grounds with me.

Hi again dear June,

Thank you for your sweet comments and for visiting my new blog. Yes, I agree with you, keeping up a blog is a lot of work, but I love it, too, just as you do! I cannot post often either. I love what you said about seeing things differently since you began blogging... how nothing is taken for granted and there is beauty everywhere. That is so true, and the friendships that are made are such a blessing! Thank you for encouraging me and for being my friend!

Love, Paula

Hi June

What I love the most about your gardens are those two white adorondac chairs. They are for me and you to sit in. We will look up into the trees and be able to see the sun try and break through the leaves, but not quite be able too - leaving us in a very light warmth. We will be able to smell the fresh grass - as it was just mowed and the sprinklers are clacking behind us. Our conversation takes us to childhood dreams and adulthood realities. From teenage troubles to the magic and mistery of young womenhood. The challanges of motherhood to the excitement of being a grandma. It's been a good life and I'm very happy to be able to share mine with you.
