Decking the Halls!

I decided to get to it.
Get to 'decking the halls' and 'fa la la la la...ing'

I have this little shelf next to the sofa.
The perfect place for a Christmas vignette.

I am one of those people.
I can't just decorate for Christmas...
I have clean first, and then decorate.

Before I decorate any surface, I have to clean every little thing around it
or I just can't do it.
Thus, my Christmas decorating takes me days and days to accomplish.

I know I'm not alone on this one.

I had dreams of decorating for Christmas this year like what you
find on the pages of Jeanne d' Arc Living.

I just couldn't stick with it.

I have to have shiny!

I have to have bright!

The shelf over the kitchen stove got a little dose of both.

Now the shelf is clean once more.
And everything in it!

 I have to have whimsy!

Last December I wrote about a special teacher my daughter had in
elementary school who helped
her students create the Nativity from clay.

My most prized Christmas decoration.

I love my little red heart given to me as a 'just because she thought I would love it'
gift from my sweet neighbor Sarah
and see the tissue paper flower that my friend Suzan had tied around a lovely package
she sent me last year? (Actually this hangs here all year round!)because I love it so much))
Suzan sent me several things that I use at Christmastime in my decorating.

And with it, hangs my precious star that Rebecca made for me from her heart.
It has a picture of Landon as a wee baby sleeping.
This also hangs here year round.

I love putting out the things from friends that have been given to me from Christmases past.

This beautiful little lace angel was sent to me from my friend
Riet  in the Netherlands.
The darling little button filled ornament is from my friend Judy.

So this is the extent of my decorating so far.
I really do love putting all the festive touches around the house
this time of year. I don't do a lot, just a little here
and a little there.

Just enough to 'Fa La La La La' to.

Very pretty, June.
I am the same way, have to clean first and rearrange furniture now it's messier than it was before I started (minus the cleaning surfaces!).

Thanks for putting me in the mood to roll my sleeves up again... I'll hit it running again tomorrow, well, after I pack some parcels.

Beautiful, charming, joyful and so inspiring, June. I love all the little touches here and there. That is pretty much how I decorate – I don't do the whole house as, honestly, there are rooms we don't use much in winter. I also love the handmade gifts – those are the best to decorate with.

Fa la la la la to you and have a festive weekend! xo – g

This post makes me feel the warmth of your home. I think this is what Christmas is all about. Decorating in a way that makes you feel good and using ornaments that friends have given you. Those ornaments are always prettier than the ones money can buy, as they bring back fond memories and they let you feel the love of your friends. I love all the little vignettes, your daughter's nativity scene, the heart with Landon's photo, really too cute, well each and every item that was given to you is precious! Thanks for an inspiring post! Have a great weekend June and enjoy your decked halls, fa la la la la!

It's all beautiful June! My favorite detail is the tiny red ornament hanging from the ironstone pitcher's handle! A clever little place for an ornament!

The fresh cedar is beautiful in and of itself, isn't it? I just bought some cedar clippings at the greenhouse myself! We have blue spruce and boxwood in our yard, but no cedar, so I had to break down and buy some!! :-)

Happy fa la la la'ing!!

Oh June Sweetie...
How absolutely breath taking your festive decorations are. Now I just have to know about the wired tree that has bells and the one that has snowflakes. Where on earth did it come from? I am so in love with them.

It's the little things that make a house a home, and yours looks so beautiful. Isn't it fun to bring out decorations from Christmases past that were given with such love, and you can pull out a memory? Makes you warm and fuzzy inside. I love that feeling.

I adore the lace Angel from Riet, I so enjoy visiting with her, as her photos take me to some of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in the world. She is so talented.

I also love the star with Landon sleeping. Is that not precious? I love looking back at the kids when they were young and sleeping. They look so peaceful. Rebecca did a gorgeous job of creating this star of love.

Oh what beauty your home has. Right down to the red balls in the silver bowls on your shelves. They look so inviting June Sweetie. Oh thank you for sharing with me this evening. I have SO enjoyed my visit. Many hugs sweetie and SO much love, Sherry

The nativity scene, now that's what Christmas is about. I'm going to try that project on my 3 next year. The ironstone pitcher with the red ball hanging off is AWESOME. You probably paid a dime for it! Now I have a Christmas wish, I want to see more of the living room, not just a table. A real picture. I know you can do it June. Final words, you did shinny right!
