Roses, cherries and presents from Austria!

So-
the other day I realized I hadn't even sat in the gazebo this entire Summer.
So-
I decided to remedy that.
So-
I thought I would set up a little tablescape
and maybe even sit in it awhile.

A very little while-
but at least I can now say I have sat in it!

I wish I were different,
but when I sit very long I think of all the things I should be doing,
so then I'm up and doing again.
(unless I'm sitting at the computer ;-)

I do admit that this felt good.

Just sitting in the breeze

eating cherries

and enjoying the garden views.

Here are a few I would like to share
with all of you.

Now for the giveaway win.
Coming to me across the Atlantic from Austria.

I have been visiting Traude's blog, Rostrose (translated Rose Rust)
for as long as I have had a blog myself.
I so enjoy reading about her life in her beautiful country.

Traude and I have become good friends and I
love reading her blog.
She travels to some amazing places.
Places I would never see if it weren't for her photos.

One thing I love about her is that she has the best sense of humor and
after reading her posts, I always leave with a smile.

(the little angel on the card she made is her own grandfather as a baby)

I had to unwrap several layers to get to the gift but it was so worth it.
Isn't this fabric pretty?
I think this will end up in one of my quilts and then whenever I see it I will
think of my sweet friend Traude!

I am really going to enjoy using my coasters with the lovely designs of
William Morris on them.

Thanks Traude, for your lovely letter and many gifts.
I'm sure glad that I was the lucky girl to win them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those tablescape photos are some of the prettiest pictures I've ever seen. I love the colors (BIG fan of color here) and how soft and inviting it looks.

You not only set a pretty table, relaxed and enjoyed the summer breeze, you took the most lovely pictures of it all! Gorgeous, they would make beautiful notecards! I enjoyed the pictures of your garden as well. I lost so many plants and flowers from the heat and drought, it lifts my spirits to see thriving, happy blooms!

Your friend sounds like a wonderful person and very creative! Funny how we can just "get" another blogger like we have known each other forever! I relish those friendships!

Hope you are enjoying summer as it winds down, June! :)

XO,
Jane

Dear June, your gazebo is lovely and I could surely sit there and read for a long time indeed. Your garden is splendid and mine is fading now. We did get 7 inches of rain and praise God for it. The sweet gift is lovely too. Have a terrific week, Olive

I had to "pin" some flower photos first, then come back to tell you how much I enjoy your flowers. Living down here in the drought, my flowers and shrubs were devastated this year. I'm like you in finding it hard to "relax" and enjoy the simple things. I always am thinking about what I need to do. I thought as I got older I would do better, OK, maybe just a little. thanks for sharing all the beauty with us! xo

Have a happy week

June- Your gazebo is beautiful...what a blessing that you were able to sit there and enjoy it-even if it were just for a short while. I, too, can't sit for long without jumping up to do something that I know needs to be done. I blame it on being raised on a farm where there was always something that needed tending to.

Your gift is beautiful. How wonderful to have a friend like that- xo Diana

Love that you shared your garden with us again - that is always a treat.
The gift from your friend is so cute. The idea of making the card with the image of her Grandfather is adorable.

You need to plan a lunch with friends at the gazebo in the next few weeks. Then you will sit and enjoy the beauty around you, and forget about the 'other things' that plague your thoughts.

Beautiful post June. I've never seen lilies like those and your beebalm is gorgeous. I'm glad you found some time to sit in your gazebo - summer flies so fast you must enjoy these things too. Diane

June loved coming for a few moments to enjoy your lovely gazebo. I am so like you about not being able to sit long and not think about all the other projects to do next. Here we work so hard making a home and garden beautiful so we can enjoy it and then don't take the time to do so, though I think alot of the joy, for me, is the creating part. My hubby keeps reminding me that there is nothing wrong with resting though and I need to try and do more of it.

Oh your gardens are always so lovely- I do wish mine looked more romantic and lovely as yours.

Hi June,
I so enjoyed my relaxing visit to your gazebo. Viewing the garden was delightful, especially while nibbling on those sweet cherries. A perfect afternoon, made all the more pleasant with a peek of your Austrian gift. How wonderful to receive international packages, especially with William Morris designs included. I have always admired those. Have a wonderful remainder of the week.

We won't even talk about how alike we are with the sitting. Even as a little kid my Mom would say, "you are not a very good sitter". Meaning I don't sit and enjoy near like I should. The second I sit the brain kicks in and I think of a million things I should be doing. Oh and cherries are my favorite. I have ate a ton of them this year.

Take care dear friend!

Oh June your garden is breathtaking. I think if in that gazebo I would have a hard time getting up:) but at home I can't sit long either. I set a garden bench in a new place and soon got up when I saw a weed. It was taunting me:)
George bought Rainier cherries to sell but I ate most of them probably 10 lbs. I kept thinking of that lady in Witches of Eastwick...well you know.
Yes Traude is a doll ....gosh I haven't been a good blog friend and need to go visit her.

Good grief, you'd think we could just stop and enjoy it for 5 minutes! Your gift from Traude is so sweet and pretty. The fabric would be delightful in a quilt, i know you do something really special with it!

Lovely urn of flowers. Glad to hear you were able to sit down for a few minutes. Your garden looks wonderful. I wish I could say the same for mine. With little to no raid, nights filled with baseball and work, I did not keep up with the watering. I am hoping the new plants planted this year will make it to next. I am definitely anticipating fall, looking forward to the cool days.
I am the same as you, I do not sit still unless I am reading a book or at the computer. So I have been trying to do less of that and more painting, swimming and working on the house. I wish I could say my next week of vacation will be for relaxing, but I am not much of a kidder, it will be more working on the house with a day squeezed in for the beach, zoo and a parade or two. Have a wonderful weekend.

Tricia said...

What a beautiful setting! I love the urn filled with flowers...my goodness, how pretty that is. I'm not one much for sitting either. If I had a view as wonderful as yours though, I may rethink that...or I would just bring the computer outdoors and enjoy two things at once. Happy weekend to you!

June, I am lovin' that arrangement and your tablescape! After looking at the pics of your flowers, it is obvious that the grass doesn't grow under your feet. Love your garden and home!

Dear June,
Well, I think that you should be sitting in your Gazebo for a LONG time eating lots of cherries.....and, strawberries and raspberries !! It is so pretty and a wonderful place to sit and gaze at the beauty that is your garden where you work so hard to make it so stunning. It is always a pleasure to have a 'look' around your garden and see the profusion of roses and delightful cottage garden flowers. I can always take something from your photographs to put in my own garden which, apart from giving each other cuttings which isn't really possible, is the next best thing !
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, as always, and apologies for being a little late for this post. I'm still getting used to this new computer !!
Enjoy your garden June and try and spend even more time in it !! Much love. XXXX

Hello Dear June
I've been trying to get here for ages and now here I am!
Shame on you for letting nearly the whole Summer go by and not be sitting in your gorgeous gazebo but I completely understand.
I wish I could see your Summer garden in real life - I can see from the images - the lillies, the foxgloves, bergamot, echinacea etc etc. a profusion of colour and fragrance only to be appreciated by being there. I would be so in love with it all I just know.
It feels so like my own here where everything is getting ready to burst into Spring and the birds are now telling us each morning that it is almost here!
Just love your gorgeous gift from Traude and I loved visiting her blog also.
Can you feel the approach of Autumn yet?
Loving blessings and sweet rose hugs to you,

Been a little better recently, even been to the local shops for a coffee!

and speaking of pretty...if I had a place to escape to that looked as pleasant as your setting.....I'd definitely sit and stay a long while. I'd bring out a stack of magazines, a good novel and some crochet threads and a hook......or embroidery...or my art journal....and wouldn't a cup of coffee fit right in perfectly too!

I would enjoy my time out in the garden..with such a pretty bouquet of flowers set before me...and 'claim' to be working!....that's the beauty of Etsy, I suppose....I can do what I love and it's actually work! now..if only I can transform my backyard setting into as picturesque a setting as yours! Sigh!

thanks for sharing...I say, get out there and SIT for a longer time and let everything go.

Dear June, I think you would have to pull me away from that beautiful gazebo at the end of the day. When I go to the States in the summer, I can't stand to sit inside -- even if it is 90 degrees out. I just love being in the great outdoors as often as possible. Congrats on winning Traude's lovely giveaway. She is the sweetest! I won a collage from her some time back and have it hanging in my bedroom so I am reminded of her every time I see it. We checked out prices for a trip to Austria but it turned out to be much more expensive than going too Germany -- so we went to Koblenz -- but I told hubby we will definitely get to Austria one day so I can visit Traude in person. :) Hope you are having a wonderful week.
