Can't wait for poppy time!!!

There's something about their papery petals and fuzzy stems that I can't seem to get enough of. I have poppies in many colors in my garden. These are some pictures of a few of last year's blooms. I always seem to be on the look out for the newest color I can add to the borders. The bees love them and I love bees so I will always make room for them in the garden. After they bloom, they go dormant and so I always plant them with something that will grow up and hide the dying foliage. They are so hardy and reliable. When I plant them I have to be sure about the spot because they don't transplant well. But once there in they are almost bullet proof. I planted several new ones this past year so I can't wait till they bloom. The snow is now gone from the
garden so I should see them emerging any time now. Can't wait!

Breathtaking... do they come in purple or lavender? I might just have to drop some when I'm ready to plant. I'm trying to plan out my garden now. The best plan i've come up with is most closely related to my personality... .no rhyme or reason for the flowers are the season.

Lovely.

I have to ditto that from The Victorian Parlor, the poppies are absolutely gorgous and your gardens must be amazing. I too will anxiously await new pictures from this season's flowers. Once again your photos are just spectacular!! So clear and sharp, and the colors amazing! We have wild poppies that grow all along the fields here, big red poppies. Can't pick them tho, they are under the wildflower protection bill, but I do enjoy seeing them and taking pictures of them. I will have to post about them when they bloom, which should be soon! They are exquisite.

Thank you for stopping by mammabellarte. Do you remember making poppy dolls when you were little. Just flip the petals down and tie them with the stem like a belt. They look like dolls. Ciao

Hey, June! Thanks for stopping by to say "hi". The Poppies are simply delish! Do you have red poppies along your highways in the spring? I-5 in Oregon has patches that always brighten our day. (of course they are not as spectacular as your beauties ...) Thanks for sharing the images with us.

Oh June these are the most gorgeous poppies I have seen! Most are red or orange that I have been aware of. Would you be able to tell me what the names of these are and where possibly I might buy their seeds? Am I right in thinking that I am to late to seed for this year?
